2018 JGP Bratislava Ladies Free Skate

This FP doesn't play to Anna's strengths as much as the short does. She hits all the elements, of course, but this one doesn't let her show off the real magic of her performing abilities.

I don't really get the dress - it feels like a character costume. I knew what her music was, but when I saw it I thought of the Nutcracker or something.

I loved her skating, but I much prefer her FS from last season. It just seems... generic, although it's skated with great quality and skill. Also Anna is a lovely girl, but I honestly hate her dress here...

I feel like she could hold some of these poses a bit longer, but obviously rock solid on a technical level.

Ok, no quad. But you know what I don't care! She's sublime. I'm glad she was clean, she doesn't need that kind of firepower to win today.

Anna was good! I think she needs to work on the interpretation of the music more, but good start for her

Ah, she seemed a bit off today... Some of the jumps were a bit wonky, although she did manage to go clean. Was it nerves? The program is a bit heavy for her and I got the sense that she was not performing it fully.

Still, this is literally the first competition of the season - she has the rest of the year to improve. At least this is without a doubt a successful JGP debut.

Yes, I agree. The short program really highlighted her strengths but I felt this music just highlighted her lack of power.
