2018 JGP Bratislava Ladies SP

Reminder to myself: please stop reading youtube comments under figure skating videos, don't do that to yourself :palmf:

For me, definitely one of the most memorable performances today, she needs just more confidence in carriage and material that will enable her to see more character. Loved her costume, a vivid splash of colour that contrasted beautifully with her skin. And yes, some powerful skating, like Gracie in her best time.

She definitely needs a bit more confidence - you could tell she was nervous (also like Gracie). Her skating looks much more powerful now than it did at Nationals last year. I think she had more personality on ice at Nationals last year - but again, I think that was nerves. Also agree that this material doesn't really do her justice or let much character shine through. But her Lion King LP might be stronger in that regard? We'll see.

My fingers are crossed that she will skate well enough in the LP for USFS to give her a second assignment. I'm not expecting her to medal with the level of depth here, but a clean SP and a clean enough LP should definitely get her a second JGP, IMO.

OK, she deserves favour.
(In junior's field, I personally can't decide between Anna, Alyona and Anastasia :) ).

which one? Tarakanova or Gubanova?
Personally among russian juniors my favorites are Kostornaya, Scherbakova & Gubanova

Can we talk about how shook Ted Barton was by Anna's performance? :laugh2:

Tarakanova. I still didn't see much from Gubanova, must watch her older skates.

Well, he must have expected it after last JGP season

Just got here, and caught up on Pooja and Anna during the zamboni break. Agree with everyone saying that Anna is definitely not overhyped; I liked her a great deal. As much as I like Gabby (and Pooja, for that matter) for powerful jumps, sometimes it's nice to see a very light lovely fairy princess type skater too.

It was really hard for him to find his words..Anna's performance really moved him, we don't witness such a reaction so often  He's so genuine :luv17:

Ahaha, I almost forgot about Ted's commentary being a major draw of the Junior Grand Prix. Opened the livestream and heard his dulcet voice, and was like "Ahhhh .... very nice."

Now there is a korean girl skating for Czech republic. Heard about her but didn't see her yet. I'm quite curious.

I was busy for awhile but made it back for Pooja and Anna S. Pooja is great! I would've liked to have seen more ice coverage but she's got potential.
Anna Shcherbakova is a jewel. She skated beautifully. A wonderful debut.

I don't like Anna's skating at this point :jaw: For me, of Eteri's juniors Alena is mesmerizing. I miss some flow from Anna. It will come, I'm sure.

Alena is still my favorite as well, but I do like Anna considerably more than the others
