Karina SIDARENKA / Maksim YALENICH
Country: Belarus
Music: "Twist and Shout" performed by Electric Light Orchestra
Choreography by:
Costumes: Red dress with blue straps for her; red shirt with blue pockets and pants for him. Cute.

Program Layout:

NT St Seq. - Nice unison; work on finishing and extending the moves; level 2 for both
Twiz - Lost unison in third set. level 4 for her 3 for him
In Hold Step Seq - gaining speed with build of music. Twiz out
SL Lift to spin exit
Ch Spinning movement into
Dance Spin that petered out with ungainly exit, level 4
Ro Lift - nicely done, level 4
Choreo Lift

They have really awkward transitions in there. LOL Ted agrees with me! And the music is just a very odd tempo. They need to have more FUN out there. And work on smoothing out things.

Score: 62.30

Ha ha to be honest I can barely keep my eyes on one skating routine at a time (unless I really love the skater/s and they grab my attention) so I have no business trying to watch two screens.

What version of Twist and Shout was that? It sort of sounded like The Beatles, but it was way too slow!

Electric Light Orchestra of "Don't bring me down" fame. Or so Ted said.

Ah I quite like that song...although I can never figure out if they're singing "Don't let me down, Bruce" or what.

Aww Believer, I so wanted to see Nastya skating to this...dang you Russian Fed!

The segue into Chasing Cars was...interesting...

When did Chasing Cars become so popular in skating?

Is it just me or he a much better skater than her?

Han Yan's probably responsible...his program to it - jumps aside - was pretty amazing.

Is it just me or he a much better skater than her?

He does seem much more sure on his feet then her! They have the same last name so I assume they're siblings.

Ha ha his hair was sticking straight up for a moment there!

Choreography by: Nikola Visnova, Barbora Silna, Eliska Lukonchik
Costumes: Purple halter tip with grey and purple ombre skirt for him, gray/black ombre onesie for him. But no man clevage. Good taste

Program Layout:

NT Step Seq - she's got great attack; he could up his. level 3 for both
Twizzles 2nd set out of sync. got it together for the third. good. Level 4 for both
Choreo Spin
SL Lift - better than last time, very very busy
[ ] not sure how to call this
Dance Spin - wonderful first position in squat position, all nicely nicely done. Level 4 and it should be.
Circ Step Seq. - good, they're working that tempo change (LOL it's Tempo Day here for me!)
Rotational Lift with entry from him in a lunge position. Nice. Level 4.

MUCH improved from their last outing. She's VERY engaging. Held my attention all the way through. Now work on polishing it kids.

Score: 76.30

SB and it should be

Music: Ghost - The Musical
Choreography by: Lea Rand
Costumes: Purple dress with horrible illuion fabric for her. Looks like pantyhose. Grey draped shirt with black pants for him

Program Layout:

Twizzles- lev 4 for both. A bit cautious but they had nice unison
SL lift - wobble on change in position. She really looked like it was work
Dance Spin - level 4
Cir Step Seq level 3
Stationary lift - wonky. Things start falling apart. It could be a lovely lift if they smooth it out. I think they were out of balance going into it and they never recover from this point on.
Finally, a tempo change!
NT St Seq - a bit of a mess, He clipped her skate at the end and it was all Awkward City
Curve lift that petered out
Ch spin move

Started out so nicely and then fell apart at the end. He uses his arms REALLY well.

Score: 73.02

I agree about the illusion fabric. It's a shame because she's a lovely girl.

Er is it just me or is the audio messed up here?!

And the speed too?! They're skating slower than molasses?!

Edited: Never mind, I think it's just my laptop being a nut.

And alas I'm gonna have to turn in, I've been neglecting my sleep as of late so I need to catch up on it!

Enjoy the rest of the Dance and the pairs!

Costumes: Lovely white and grey dress for her; white shirt with sheer sleeves and black pants for him

Program Layout:

One armed rotational lift - level 4 and really well done
NT Ste Seq - level 3 for her, level 2 for him
Choreo Slide - nice
Twizzles - level 3 for her 4 for him Jump entry. Need to work on unison
SL lift - him in spread eagle
Dance Spin that was slow slow slow
Choreo Lift
Circ STep Seq with twiz exit. Good.

It was nice. That first lift was awesome. They do work the tempo change, so good for them. They need to smooth out transitions between moves. And connect more with each other. But a good job.

They're skating slower than molasses because they want to get levels. And they're juniors. And it's still pretty early days.

Have a nice snooze!

Didn't get a chance to comment at the time because my Mum was using the computer.

Loved absolutely everything about the Czech siblings...

...BUT I really don't like that version of "Chasing Cars". And I never have. It's no-where near as good as the Snow Patrol original.

And I'm not just saying that because Snow Patrol are from my part of the world.

That aside, there is no dispute that the Taschlers deserve to be in the lead.

Choreography by: Romain Haguenauer
Costumes: Purple dress with appliques for her, basic black with sheer sleeves for him

Program Layout:

Nice opening sliding movement
Twizzles - not much distance and out of sync. Level 4 for both
Dance Spin - good. Cartwheel exit out is nice. And right into
NT Step Seq - MUCH improved - level 4 for her 3 for him
Curve Lift - that's how you make a busy lift look seamless. Nice. One foot curve was great.
Diag Step Seq in hold - edges could be better
Choreo sliding movement - they use slides effectively all thru the program
Rotational Lift - good speed
Choreo Spin

This program is a good example of how effective sliding movements can be. MUCH improved since the last outting. They're well matched.

Score: 77.19

SB and it should be.

Midline Step Sequence with fun salute into it.
Rotational lift - good speed. Level 4. Nice one foot position
Choreo lift - also VERY Igor.

She has such maturity for their age. They both do. And a good feel for the music. That was engaging. Nice debut for them. Keep an eye on them.
