Is it just me, or is RD this year is what they hoped for last year, when everyone went for black and sad? Looking at Brit's costumes now. Heh. But I have no clue what 3 decades of social music even encompasses. I thought fifties was like boring and 60s was rock-n-roll. Then 70s was disco and pop.

Anyway, I am bored with this ID so far.

I am also disappointed with the choreographies, music choices and costumes. FRA, GER, JPN had some really good ideas, but overall the programs are very empty, with clichéd movements, lifts seen a thousand times, etc. I don't want to delve into this very stupid task of the 50s, 60s, 70s, but if you are given three decades and you manage to choose a song from 1985 because the Rolling Stones and David Bowie sang before it... congratulations.

The fifties could be brilliant at its best, sharp and sophisticated and such fabulous music and popular icons who could be used for inspiration and... yeah. Not as easy as slapping the only two vintage rock songs people have heard together.

Don't mind me, I am still glaring at that music list. The free will be better.

The sound quality during the dances was so muffled and dreadful that sometimes it was hard even to identify the song if it wasn't something raucous like YMCA..
I'd like to hear from someone there if it was better live because if it wasn't, it would affect the skaters themselves which is not fair.

I totally just identified Grease. And, fair enough, it is 1970s! And, social.

fifth symphony or fifth concerto ? or any other fifth ?
Disco version of Beethoven's 5th symphony opening (the name's a pun) that was HUGE worldwide in the mid-70s and is still an earworm of earworms (anyone else who say wasn't born then, be warned)

I liked Bernard/Bonetto's choice of music and interpretation. Definitely 60s and familiar, but not a warhorse.

Meanwhile... Baby Japanese team chose to do One Piece and did *not* use the brilliant anime soundtrack but instead chose the mediocre film score, je suis disappoint. Seriously so many good OPs and EDs (not to mention the scores for the anime) to choose from and yet you go to the film version? And not the songs that I can sing along to even if only an instrumental version is on? Utter disappointment. :dbana:

Also, they have a typo on their ISU bio. Poor Zoro, he was explicitly named after Zorro and yet he is listed on the ISU bio as 'Roronoa Zora'. He was one of my fave characters while I was still watching the anime/reading the manga (Mihawk used to be my utter fave but then Oda had to ruin him gaahh) and it hurts me to see this. When will we ever get a proper anime/manga program that will make my otaku blood sing (deep sigh)
