On the pairs stream, Ted just addressed the poor sound quality, apparently there have been questions and it has something to do with the licencing mess and rules of cleaning it up for streaming.

One event is hard to judge the whole direction, but this one made me miss the old style RD, when everyone had to dance the same style far more than the last season. At least then I could keep hoping I will eventually see waltzes, lol. In this 50th through 70s, I am not sure what I am watching for. Like just wanting to get moving? Then any upbeat music would do. I don't know enough about the music to understand where each song comes from. Like, I would rather have it rock-n-roll theme or disco theme or something that gives me an easier point of reference.

I think the ISU has gone one too many years with these themes... Now it all looks the same and looks like nothing at the same time. And, it looks less and less like dance. I wonder if at some point, they will just declare a list of elements teams need to perform and let them pick their music... like the free dance but the rhythm dance would have a dance pattern to be included... but yeah. meh

They change direction all the time and I think it is a good idea, but I found it was easier for me as someone who doesn't know music last year than this year. Last year, I was having a blast, this year I am more confused than anything. I emailed the jgp asking Mark and Ted to talk more about each couple's music selection and which decade it fits in so I am a bit more educated at least. Fingers crossed they would. My music stuff all comes from figure skaters, lol.

I have no idea about this music either. I don't know much after 1920s LOL but still, i was able to deal with the ISU choices until this year ;)

I thought fifties was like boring and 60s was rock-n-roll. Then 70s was disco and pop.
Rock'n'roll started in fifties, sixties was different kinds of rock and pop, also funk, seventies was pop and disco, as you said, plus rock and funk. Of course, through it all there were genres that probably wouldn't work for this RD, like blues, country and jazz.

Thank you. But, like, I would expect rocknroll/rock then to dominate, since it is the common denominator for all 3 decades, but I didn’t really hear much or any. Gosh, maybe they should have just said just 60s or just 70s.

My favorite was the Beatles' interpretation in this competition.
