2018 Junior World Championships Ladies FS

As in she doesn't have a consistent 3T on the end of a combo or she can't do the 3T at all!?

Perhaps, the latter? Honestly, she would not have been sent to Junior Words because of this but the girl who won juniors is only 12. Star withdrew from competition. And, Pooja Kalyan (who I really love-- really beautiful skater and nice jumps) did not have the qualifying points from this season.

Solid skate, she seems happy

From what I understand, when she was learning triples she learned her lutz and flip first. So, she still does not have a consistent 3T.
It's such an odd choice, truly... 3S and 3T are the easier jumps to perform but not just that, they also are the most important triple jumps because they are the ones that enable the -3x combos. I really can't think of any good reason for why a coach would teach the flip and the lutz first.

Wow, Lucrezia still leads(The FS)! What a climb she is making.

Beccari is leading the free, but she's in third.

I would’ve gone with Hanna Harrell since she was just after Ting and had the highest scores in juniors. But Emmy had her JGP bronze and was fifth in Golden Spin, so I guess her body of work made a difference.

Not a lot of expression, but good tano jumps. She seems pleased

Nice skate from Hongyi. She's a bit perfunctory in her performance effort, but she has nice jumps. Ideal rippons and tanos-- if you're going to go full Russian and rippon and tano everything, then do it like that.

I like this young Chinese girl, lovely spins and pretty rippons. She looks good on the ice. Skating skills need work though and I spotted a few URs on replay.

It's not that unusual, many girls get the triple loop as their triple first, for example. Sometimes it's about getting the body comfortable with the extra rotation and going back to an "easier" triple is sometimes easier after learning a "harder" triple. My first triple was a lutz (though I'm not a competitor, and never intended to be, I just did this for fun as a kid) and my 3T came fine later. Looking at her other technique, she probably has a very bad toe-axel on her 3T and in attempts to try to correct it she probably lost the jump entirely. I've seen kids go from doing triple toe-axels (under-rotated of course since they can't get the pick support), and then relearning and being unable to even do a correct single for awhile.

Her tanos and Rippons are better than Evgenia's but she's not getting any GOE boost from it. Guess you have to be Russian as well

Hongyi is a lovely looking skater with her long limbs but I found that skate uninspiring. She lost several technical points after review so she must have under rotations. Potential with the right music that she can express.
