2018 Junior World Championships Ladies FS

I think the music editing is a bit awkward, but it's nice to see her enjoying the music she's skating to.

Contender for possibly the worst music selection this season. :disapp:

Burlesque for someone in a junior competition? ?_? Also the skating doesn't match the music at all. :disapp:

Great skate, she fist pumps!

Good for you Yihana! Wasn't loving the costume but she reaelly embraced that music and performed! Jumps are mighty-shades of Midori Ito!

WOW, that was quite a finish by Yuhana!!! Totally resembling Akiko to me, even by sole appearance :)

So apparently according to Jackie Wong, Ting's 3Lutz 1/2 Loop wasn't counted as a combo, because of a rule change that says the 1/2 loop won't count as a combo if you are able to do it successfully later on in the program. Because of that, the 3Flip-2Toe was counted, which is why the tech score jumped up at the end.

The weird thing is that if you don't tack on a 3 jump combo later on, the 1/2 Loop still counts as a combo...

Pretty sure Ting just saved USA from getting fewer spots on the JGP next year as well. Good for her... poor thing, the USFSA sharks must taste the blood of success from across the ocean and are swimming in for the kill like they do with every promising young starlet.

Disagree entirely, actually. It's not worse than Trusova's Big Spender SP, with Trusova looking like an 8 year old. Yuhana's music cut is at least more designed for "fun" than for "seduction" (and, wow, that feels gross to say). Not saying that they both shouldn't have chosen different songs, if they wanted to do Big Band, but Yuhana's is better by a mile.

I thought Yuhana did a great job of selling the fun mood of that program. Really great skate from her!

Part of my issue with backloading being a bonus multiplier rather than a GOE issue is that putting a 2A+3T+2T at the very end after everything is substantially more difficult and risky then just doing the jump right at the half-mark, and yet the reward is the same. I applaud that she had the tenacity and confidence to place that right at the end.

:eeking: I had no idea! Smart girl then!

Can't this director seriously change the camera angle at any other time? Why in the middle of a jump? ...

Anyway, shame about the fall.
