2018 Nepela Trophy Ladies Short Program

Big old UR’s on both jumps for Polina’s combo.....maybe even a downgrade on the 3t even :eeking:

Oh no....I think she needs more technical help than she will be able to get at CSKA.

Polina is my girl (I LOVE TALL SKATERS) but I'm afraid she'll never reach her full potential.

I have really liked Polina's SPs in past, but this one doesn't do it for me. She is projecting more than in past, which is good, but the program somehow didn't draw me in. It was rough around the edges, which I'm sure will improve as the season progresses. Pink is a lovely colour on Polina. :)

her FS is much better! you might like it tomorrow! (FS is tomorrow right?)

Beautiful skating, great ice coverage but difficulties on the jumps. I think she could get the highest GOEs if she puts the combination in the 1st half.. you can go for quality, Polina!

TES: 24.92 PCS: 29.44 TSS: 54.36 currently 4th... ouch

I thought the new scoring system was designed to make skaters who are clean do better. Lil Bet was clean, Rika was not. And what's up with Polina's score?
We had better see some good free skates from the Russian ladies tomorrow... they all need to position themselves well on the GP seeing what the younger skaters have already done.

Do they really need to have the time ticking during the performance?

I like Rika a lot but that’s a big score Imo for that performance???? No?

Yup that was a huge score for that performance, she only had the problem with the 3A, have to see how they graded that, the rest was pretty solid. Seeing her happily clapping was super sweet.

Unfortunately. You are incorrect. Her skating skills and speed are far superior. Her jumps also deserve much higher GOE.

Though Elizabet has better transitions and better spins (at least two of them).

Also someone may argue that a fall on a jump in the SP where you have only 3 jumping elements should affect the performance.

It is debatable but still the two scores are very close so the door is wide open for the free.

At this point, I will be happy if Polina and Stanislava are 2-3 (in any order) or even 3-4...

you don't even have the protocols yet! you don't know what GOE each one of them got :palmf: Rika would definitely get higher goes than lilbet who has tiny jumps. Her 3A was probably fully rotated so despite her fall deduction she'd score higher anyway. Lilbet's jumps had lower base value. And their score difference isn't even a point. What are you complaining about? :rolleye:

Rough skate for Alisa, but it's nice to see representation from nations that aren't typically known for skating. She needs to work on her speed and projection - She looked down at the ice a lot.

I haven’t seen Lil Bet’s performance yet but Rika had a no other flaws other than the fall which didn’t really effect the performance.
