2018 Olympic Figure Skating Free Dance

That is a coooooool lift! I almost like it as much as Anna and Luca's floaty circular lift from their City Lights free

I don't think this music plays to Z/G's strengths but I'm glad they did well enough to move the crowd

G/F win best Exogenesis of the night for me. :slink:

(C/B are doing their Butterflies and Hurricanes program, right? I really like that one.)

Can we please wait to talk about judging bias until after the event is over? No one knows how any of these judges will score.

Hey, I didn't say anything about the judging itself, just that the optics are bad with having a Fed president on the panel... Because it doesn't look good :confused2:

Never guessed I'd hear Muse being used for so many figure skating programs when I first got into them after their second studio release.

Modern's still fine. :P

I blame SYTYCD for the same broken lines, flexed feet, "imperfectly perfect" carriage, fake facial expressions. I wouldn't mind it if they incorporated technique from different genres more, but all they do is watered down ballet and jazz.

Oh, well, in that case! We can be friends. I actually dislike that style too. It's like competition-y lyrical mish-mash. It can be very watchable when done well but it does make my classically trained heart twitch a bit, yeah.

edit: The modern/contemporary terminology is still a bit sticky--all my UK/French friends call modern contemporary, as do a bunch of studios here in the States. IMO they're not the same thing at all, but that's another debate. But hence my immediate reaction

Zagorski / Guerreiro

Also starting off with the choreo lift. Nice extension from Zagorski on the stationary lift. Good unison with the foot placement in the circular step, could have more speed (Level 4). A bit of a problem on the first two sets of twizzles, particularly with Zagorski on the first set (Level 3). Nice leap into the curve lift (but only Level 1). Combo spin could have more speed and a better upright spin but still high level (Level 4). A little out of sync in places in the midline step but good edges for the most part (Level 3). Good rotational lift and nice use of spread eagles into a simple choreo lift to end.

Compared to Guignard/Fabbri with another Muse program, it didn't have as much speed or power, but they do have stronger body lines and extension at times. Some mistakes on the twizzles and that one curve lift (not sure went wrong just yet), but I think they should go into second so far. They could still use more speed and a deeper connection between them.
