2018 Olympic Figure Skating Free Dance

Not to be smarmy, but the French girl needs a nose job.
Sorry, but if she can breathe through her nose, that is for Gabriella to say. While I do not always think her skating is as strong as Guillaume's, she is a beautiful, sensuous ice dancer.

The French still got higher TES than Tessa and Scott means this system really needs to be changed. I honestly think the French's lifts are really average in this last group, the other teams have more difficult/creative positions.

I'm honestly surprised that it was such a tender, emotional skate given how high the stakes were. I felt completely relaxed watching them while in the Team Dance I felt anxious

There's actually been research done that silver medalists are the unahppiest. Something about losing the gold. While bronze medalists are just happy to be on the podium.

I think it has to do with the scores being close etc. Like Shoma wasn't unhappier than Javier (both were very happy) but Sui/han and P/C were SO CLOSE with bronze way behind so obviously...

VM had the more exciting overall performance and it built. The French's performance felt very stationary and even. I think the costume mishap from yesterday was also sadly and wrongly prophetic.

Congrats to all the medalists. Not to demean any of the other competitors but has the gap between the top 2 and the remaining ever been larger?

Nobody in the world can do what Gabriella and Guillaume can do. Nobody can deliver the same kind of nuanced poetic movement and emotion on ice. To me, they are one of a kind treasures who will always be unbeatable, and I'm so proud of how hard they fought. Gabriella is a warrior for coming back so strong tonight. May their star rise ever higher! Congratulations on a hard-won silver medal!

I'm really really happy for Tessa and Scott, that performance was definitely gold-worthy. I'm a bit sad that we were robbed of a completely fair and equal competition via a frickin wardrobe malfunction, but it was still a great fight for gold, and for bronze as well. Thank you, everyone :thank:

It's a shame for the french team and it's a shame there is some perception that if it's not gold it's nothing. They won a silver medal at the olympics and they won the free skate. How can anyone say they were robbed. Robbed by who? V/M? the judges?

They messed up the twizzles yesterday - it was a very obvious error even for a lay viewer. Many people think that was more like a 3 -4 point error. It distracted from the performance; their PCS should have been lower It's a shame it happened to them but at the end of the day the costume is up to the skater. Other skaters' should not have to suffer because someone's costume malfunctioned.

If anything these olympics should make people realize that there are two parts to the program and V/M were superior yesterday and pretty much matched the french today. Everyone knew one mistake would cost the winner. The french made the mistake.

Serious question.......did anyone hear how the bird felt about P/C vs V/M? Which team did that little birdie prefer?

🐥

B/S said right now in the interview that they're gonna take a break for at least a year and then they'll see if they want to continue, but they're not ruling out returning to competition afterwards :)

How about that Shibs winning the Bronze, bet nobody saw that coming... !

Aw... I'm heartbroken for P/C, I really wanted them to have a good day out after the short dance incident but they're still young and undoubtedly will be back in 4 years + Despite being so young they're one of the two top teams in the world so I think we can basically expect a monopoly on ice dance the next few years. Good job to V/M for going out with a bang though!
