I’m in America. As I said. Have a nice day

Fantastic skating last night and just amazing seeing Virtue and Moir step up and deliver a perfect skate to win it.

hmmmm ... so how do you explain the thunderous applause given to V/M (versus the enthusiastic applause given to P/C)? The arena certainly was not filled with Canadians - in fact probably <10%. So how do you account for the reaction from the other 90% of skating fans in that audience (representing countries from all over the world?)

They won the Gold that's what matters. It was perfect enough to win Gold... After the world record the French team posted they had to also deliver a perfect skate and they did. Full respect.

thunderous? lol canadians always overacting ...Because the canadians were last? Thats normal.Thats the privilige

Sorry, but I find your description of why P/C are better artists with their program rather pretentious. You are of course entitled to your opinion, and, yes, it's a beautiful program, but Moonlight Sonata is a deeper piece of music to start with. C'mon, it's Beethoven vs Moulin Rouge music whicg is quite awful in comparison. It's very hard to bring depth to something like Moulin Rouge ... you are saying it's not deep enough and too literal, but I really don't understand how you expect to see depth from a theatrical program. I think it's a testament to V/M actually that they took this awful piece of music and perform the hell out of it and made me watch them despite it.

I can confidently say that V/M's "artistry" is very forced and contrived. This is sooooo evident in their attempt at Latin especially in the opening moves of their SD and the pause in their no-touch sequence.
Their "renowned" hip-hip chin-chin was charismatic but awkward and....for the lack of a better word- contrived.
They can definitely sell a program sure. They know how to conceal their lack of movement with musically times twizzles and over-dramtic faces. The numbers and levels aligned for them, yes.

Papadakis/Cizeron just brought what is beautiful in classical dance into a very aesthetically-challenged sport. There is just something balanced and....just right with their movement, choreo, flow. While I find V/Ms choereo to be bombastic but akward and a many points expected.

At the end of the day there are people who are content with tear-jerking corny inspirational performances from America's Got Talent/Britain's Got Talent or pizzazz of Broadway. And there are people who see more value in modernized Classic ballet.

Taste is dead.

I love both teams to be honest and most fans are happy to have seen a fabulous competition, why do some people always have to whine and find excuses and especially hate on great athletes...

Ice dancing is made from two programs. Tessa and Scott had two clean programs, fair win.

Exactly!

yes they won, but not because they were better , in true sense of the word. French sd , first half was better then canadians, then that happened..

Were not they the best? They delivered two flawless programs, I can not say the same for P / C.
The way you try to lessen Tessa and Scott to magnify your favorite couple is shameful.

They won because they had the most pts over two skates. Fair and square and with a wonderful free skate.

Yes , of course I didnt know that wow .. But I remind you they won only because of SP in which they lead so much because of papadakis misfortunate. If it happened to Tessa and french won , how would you act?

Aaaaaand...this is why I post so little during the Olympics. I understand that people's feelings run high during the Games, but this thread is getting more hostile than it needs to be. Those of you who just joined us should know that for the most part, we treat each other with respect on this forum.
Play nice! That is all.

If the French had won with two stellar programs of course I would congratulate them. That's the beauty of sports anything can happen and when two teams are so great you congratulate both.

I'm calling it now- French will get silver.

 :drama: You have a prophetic power. After Papadakis / Cizeron skated the way they skated I was like ''game over'' and was slowly getting ready for Virtue / Moir with silver only as I felt they won't score close to that. I don't quite understand P/C world record after world record, as beautiful, enthralling and crisp it was ... it was not better than their Free Dance in Moscow for example. But these are Olympics you know all ;)

I wonder if P/C had competed in the team event if the costume malfunction would have happened there instead and the results here would have been different.

They may have had a small injury, because they were completely silent.
But if it was a "strategical" decision, well, it blew up in their faces.
