really with all the events, we really had the medalists delivering - skating to thei best and no one winning because of anothers falters (unless one considers the french ice dancing). The Russians, Japansese and KO showed themselve well-above everyone else. Disappointed in CK- she should have been below the Japanese skater no question- was there such a drive politically for her to get top 5? The Korean skater is also very good.

Karen Chen's instagram post is very sad- she writes something about her boots - I am not sure if there was a problem ? - but she says regardless she was responsible for how she skated and she seems to feel bad for letting people down. I really feel sorry for her - She has to be of a mindset to skate for herself - not other people and until she gets that mindset this will contune to happen. I think she really took the pressure to heart - maybe all the stuff with Ashley, social media, etc. really got to her? Ashley would have not done much better comparatively - she wouldn't have beaten the top 6 skaters, and probably not even the Korean skater and Maria.

USA has to be concerned for worlds. I don't see any of the ladies dropping out for worlds - KO maybe but she may do it for her country for Canada to maintain 3 spots. CK too maybe will drop out but maybe she will go to get the spot. In any event, it's going to be a competitive worlds and it's likely that the US will only get 2 spots. I wonder if Mirai will go or if she will go on DWTS or other media appearances or retire? There's not alot of time to help Bradie and Karen to be able to compete mentally, though Bradie may do better at worlds since I think it may have been the unique nature of the olympics that struck her.

The highest USA lady was behind the bronze medal by 38 points!

I just want to say that i've heard for the past 2 years how Dick Button would have complained at Zagitova not being enough artistic or balletic for Don Quixote, and here's his thoughts

Alina when she was waiting for Evgenias score was kind of weird with her playing with that creepy doll. Looks a little like her coach Eteri. Is it her voodoo doll?

This was the defining moment for me. I was reminded so much of Yuna from 2014, when she was holding that stuffed bear at the end, smiling nervously but hopeful, satisfied with her skate and surrounded by childhood coaches she loves. Alina on the other hand was alone, her coach openly favorite against her, almost no joy in her expression, either in anticipation or learning the result. The Russian way, particularly when you consider how it has chewed and spit out girls like Lipnitskaia, might not be a good way after all.

Agreed. She needs a little more maturity, but she was my favorite skater of the entire competition by a wide margin.

I am happy for all the medalists and also, empathic for Evgenia, seeing her cry made me tear up as well. But...for me, this competition comes down only to this. I kind of was excepting to be very exciting and at the end...it left me dull. I guess I spent all my emotions at the pairs event, I was really invested in those 4 teams there without a clue how the podium would look like.

HATED how NBC kept rubbing in how Tara won the gold over Michelle Kwan and how much of an upset it was. I wonder if it’s in Tatas contract that they mention that Tara won the Olympic Gold 1000000 Times. Annoying and tacky

Glad I don't have NBC - and I did not like that performance at Nagano 1998, it was like seeing a little girl skating out there. It's supposed to be LADIES, not juniors.

I don't understand how people except the whole team to fly from the K&C and to hug Alina in a matter of seconds. That's true...although I noticed only the older male coach(?) were with Med, the younger male coach(?) Danil wasn't, so he could probably have gone over and celebrated with Alina.

Also it took Eteri a while to go over to Alina, but then Med was clearly very upset, so...

I did see the hug on the ice after the venue ceremony, that was nice!

I really like what my local coach has said, Aspire like Champion Zagitova, Dare to test your limits and keep pushing boundaries. Do not go with the flow and be above and different. People will like and hate you for that.

If it was really "accurate" then Kaetlyn should be first. Everyone feels sympathetic for Med tonight but really Med shouldn't even be getting half of her GOEs she gets on her jumps (esp combos).
