if you fall/stepout on your supposed combo jump and didnt get to have combination in SP you get BV deduction on your jump (30% or same with UR call deduction) and +COMBO in protocols

The same reason Kolyada got it. You get a 4+Rep. Thus getting credit for the jump but missing out on the points for the combo.

Tara said it had to be in combination. since it was not he got 0 points for the faulty quad. Seems like an odd rule - these getting no points stuff seems ridiculous.

A combo is a required element- no combo, no points for your combo element

Makes you wonder why the russians did not use the other russian skater in the team event. he showed it at europeans. they should have had him do at least one of the programs. And used T/M for both - they might have got gold.

Yes, I don't like to complain about judging too much but he was overscored. He should have had around the same PCS as Chen.
