2018 Olympic Figure Skating Pairs FS

Not what DM/G were looking for. But, from the beginning you could tell that they weren't really aiming for the skate of their life. It's a shame because it's possible that a lights out performance could have put them very close to the podium. I wish they had more fire. It was very blank. But if the Olympics doesn't get them going, I don't know what will.

The other North Korean athletes were invited for the Olympics instead of qualified too.

Even sadder still they hacked half of the South Korean team that qualified for the women's ice hockey because they wanted to make a joint Korea team, so half of the athletes that have been preparing and training and competing for years to be able to make it to the Olympics had to make way for the North Korean hockey players D:

I think they allowed the Koreans a higher roster limit, (35 instead of 23 or something like that) to allow 12 North Koreans to be rostered. They have the same limit as the other teams in the number they can dress for each game but they're required to play 3 North Koreans each game. So it's less than half the team that's displaced by the North Koreans.

I was having trouble keeping my attention on Della Monica/Guarise, despite the impressive sea-blue costumes - maybe not enough variation in the music? But they were trying something interesting, so good on them. Shame about the fall.

considering the increase in difficultly and risk these pairs are taking in the past few years, I'd say some of those banned moves ought to be taken off the ban list

Iron Lotus for 2022!!!

PAMCHENKO OR BUST

tho

Della Monica / Guarise

Sbs 3S done very well. Smooth 3Twist lift too. Hand-down from Della Monica on the 3T+1T, didn't carry a lot of speed into it. Fairly good centering on the combo spin though. Great running edge on the throw 3Lo (looks like a slight two-foot on the landing). Good speed in the back outside death spiral. Solid first lift with nice cartwheeling exit. Ouch, a hard fall on the throw 3S. Lots of ice coverage on the axel lasso lift. Good press into the final lift, and very good unison in their sbs spins which shows their confidence in that element.

I enjoyed the choreography of this program more than the interpretation. The holds and shapes were interesting, but I wasn't sure of what they were trying to portray either as a story or in a style. I think they are a refined team but I'm still not certain on their voice as a pair. Beautiful performance for the most part, though, with many clean, impressive, fast elements.

I'm up! Can't wait for the showdown.
Come on, Kristina and Alexei! Make the most of your unexpected Olympic experience.

Kristina has great lipstick. Maybe a little dark for this costume/program though. But very nice.

...as soon as I saw the yellow frock I knew this had to be La La Land. Shame The Greatest Showman didn't come out last year - we could have had a musicals face-off!

Is this really the first LaLa Land Program of the Olympics??? It seemed like there were 900 of them on the GP circuit.

Those Italian mermaid outfits are just no.

I get that they have some great qualities but I really don't feel like that skate should have placed them ahead of the first Canadian pair or the North Koreans, but then they did have a lead going in from the SP.

Speaking of the North Koreans, watching them get their marks made me feel as if they're naive about how long it takes to get to where to where they want to be in the standings.
