2018 Olympic Figure Skating Pairs FS

Yikes... a meltdown of sorts after a wonderful SP... :(

But I'm so glad they got a chance to be at the Olympics here... (although at the expense of SK :sad21: )

And they have great music editors. T/M please take note.

That wasn't pretty with A/R. Liam Firus is the only one who has done a half way decent program to this music. The program is not the best to begin with and then the mistakes :drama: Happy they got the experience

Bit disappointing skate with messy sbs jumps and fall - seemed tired on the last elements, too

FS: 62.17+63.76-2.00 = 123.93, 194.45, 4/8

Unpopular opinion, but I'd love to see Ashley's La La Land skated to her full potential!

Aaah. There's something to be said that when Stolbova/Klimov has a meltdown, they're still 100x more entertaining than this skate.

This program bores me?

I do appreciate the cast of The Greatest Showman a lot more. Keala Settle has SERIOUS PIPES and also Austyn Johnson (who plays Caroline Barnum, one of PT's daughters) is a talented little kid. Saw her in the National Tour of Matilda and she can seriously dance.

The cast was amazing! The songwriters were not.

Oh dear, what a rough skate for A/R. Poor guys.

I just realized that even without A/R's difficulties, Julianne and Charlie are now top 10. :hap85: And frankly I'd be shocked now if A/R placed ahead of them; their SP lead wasn't that big.

That was a rough program.
But I love their costumes. Like they're out of a cartoon.

Remember folks, they weren't supposed to be there....:(
I miss Ksenia & Fedor every day. Good for Alexei that he actually honoured that in an interview yesterday.

My favorite A/R factoid is that they've made it to 1 Euros, 1 Worlds, and 1 Olympics because S/K withdrew.

(I want to see Wagner's La La Land... :slink: )

But isn't Jackman in that movie? Les mis still scarred me

Astakhova / Rogonov

Hard fall from Astakhova on the opening 3T (2T won't count). Very strong 3Twist, but turn-outs it seems from both of them on the sbs 3S. Very beautiful position in the first lift. Good landing on the high throw 3F. Unfortunate fall on the throw 3Lo that seemed like it didn't need to happen. A bit slow coming out of the death spiral. Fairly good sync on the sbs spins, and pair of lifts with good rotation. Interesting positions in the combo spin but a bit slow near the end.

This was a very rough skate. It seemed that Astakhova didn't have her feet beneath her on the landings. I like La La Land but they didn't have the pep and jazz to really capture that music, which was cut rather oddly and out of sync at times with their elements.

That was rough. I feel bad for any team who has a bad night at the Olympics but I feel especially so for these two. They came by such an uncomfortable route to start with; no one wants to be there because their teammate was denied (or otherwise unable to attend for unfortunate reasons) and it comes with added pressure to convince everyone, self included, that being there is deserved.
