It's actually Dmitriev who has helped A/R improve. A/R have had some really good performances this season under his tenure. They've aced that fp before this season. They just looked out of it today, unfortunately. But it is Dmitriev who seemed to help them with their overall packaging and consistency earlier in the season. Their partnership with him is new this season, I believe. Before they were getting lost wandering in the wilderness. The Russian pair I really loved was Bazarova/Deputat. They were sexy together, but did not have a strong coach politically to help them out, so their partnership ended. I would totally prefer B/D over the boring Z/E, but no luck.
What I'd rreally prefer seeing is T/M having an off day that keeps them off the podium, because they've gotten so many gifts from judges this season and their fp music, choreo and costumes SUCK.
I agree. I was surprised to see A/R ahead of Ryom /Kim. That didn't made sense at all to me.

If you consider how many of these pairs will likely not be back after this year, they've set themselves up extremely well for the next quad.
My Americans, on the other hand. Oy veh.

The planned elements were changed from yesterday's listings. I wonder if they have to announce the planned elements, and whether or not they could change things up last minute? It's a "free" skate after all.

A/R have been with Dmitriev since they paired up.
Have to wait and see if they can go any higher. I think it will be tough. We've now got this big zamboni break, and the judges tend to go up in PCS and GOEs, deserved or not, as they get to the later groups...
I'm just thrilled they skated so well, and now I have this brilliant program that I can go back and watch.

I actually don't see them as balletic at all, they seem quite unrefined... I've never understood the PCS for these two. Even when they skate to the best of their ability, they're frequently out of synch and have mismatched leg lines. Like a new pair, not two people who've been skating together for years.
They can change elements any time they want, with no penalty — up to and including mid-skate.

OH (*&#% VANESSA BROUGHT BACK THE BODYSUIT Jesus H Christ I don't know if I can handle it.
My mother and I are watching the event along with my roommate (though she leaves during resurfacing). Anyhow, my mother is dismayed by how few of the top teams skate to the beat of the music. She was pleased to hear that it's heavily penalized when you don't in ID. I told her that it adds to PCS and individual elements' GOE but that just made her wonder why fewer skaters don't 
Definitely interesting to have someone who's a occasional FSing watcher but who did low level FS and lots of music responds to different routines.
