To be fair, I do believe that T/M have better SS than S/H. Only category that they are far superior in PCS-wise.

And T/M have incredible elements, but I don't think they should be that close to S/H in terms of PCS. Also dang...so many teams delivered today! Hope the quality is the same for the free skate

We haven’t seen any of the FS. They could be amazing or they could be awful.

We can’t prejudge or hand out medals for past performances. Let em skate and we can argue afterwards.

Yeah. Their score was imense..

Got maximum score for the steps, twist and almost maximum for the lift and spin.

Would have been 83 with totally clean.

I love them dearly and only want the best for them. But they couldn't allow themselves to be less than perfect here. They still got a high score for what they did. I have to say I've read several features about Aljona and she doesn't care about the Bronze medals from her last two Olympics. It would be nice for Bruno, better than nothing I guess, but she isn't looking at them with happy feelings. So I'd rather have someone win the bronze who will be ecstatic than someone who sees it as a disappointment and blemish.

Music wise, Rachmaninoff is definitely better than D/R's music. But D/R had much more emotion than T/M, who apart from the elements, don't look familiar with each other at all. In terms of lines, actually T/M have beautiful lines, and so does Eric. But Megan's lines, especially next to Eric, is just not there and is very noticeable because he is so, so elegant.

Not sure what point you're getting at? That's exactly what I meant, it goes without saying T/M have great lines; in fact, that and ss are the only impressive things outside the elements. Rach itself is great but it's pointless if you're going to butcher the music cut and not do justice to the choreo to go with Rach.

I mean there's a reason that this sport is made up of folks who have crazy game faces and will cut their partner if they screw up and gentle giants. Three guesses which group is the partner that gets thrown who knows how high, who knows how far and held up very high by not much at all.

I was recently watching a competition (I think it was the Team event?) ant Yulia Lipnitskaya was commenting, and she said she once asked Trankov to throw her and it was one of the scariest things she had ever experienced

I think that's about right. T/M demolish everyone in skating skills. The British Eurosport could not help themselves but point out that you literally barely hear them skate, unlike everyone else. They are so smooth on the ice. The other scores are nonsensical BS, except for TR, that are up to individual tastes.

It was a great event, I can't realistically hope for fs to hold up to this standard, I just hope that everyone skates their best! Pairs quality level has truly become so high lately
