2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 1

Yes, they are definitely still in the conversation. However, I am not sure gold is in their grasps. But, the ice is slippery :) as we saw today. I love how the review on CBC was just a bunch of men falling to the ice . haha

I have to say that the stop leading to the finale and a change of music tempo reflected in the last spin get me every single time... For me, the choreography really highlights the music. And coach Fluffy ofc having time of her life:laugh:

I hate to add fuel to the flame, but it's really incredible how Plushenko thrived on competition...he just loved the pressure. Anyways, I wish the young Russian men brighter days; there's so much talent right now.

You add to the story that was home ice, he told he was incredible nervous. :)

These skates depressed me so bad that I don't think i'm going to stay up for the pairs...it's 3.25AM

Wait, commentators on Eurosport are saying that SP points are carried into FS. Any true to that?

Only J/C can save this night for me. I need some heat!

If only Morgan could console me :ddevil:

Shoma's under-rotated and two-footed 4F seems to be generously scored.

No question about his totally deserved first place and the 10 points he won for Team Japan.

Well, team OAR chances have gone down precipitously. They needed Mikhail to be right behind Patrick. Their’s four points difference. They couldn’t afford to lose any points. Let’s see if they can pick up some with their pairs.

In spite of Nathan’s meltdown, USA is still in good shape for bronze.

I can't believe how nonchalant I am about the Olympics. :ohwell:

Maybe the pairs drama will ruffle my feathers and get my anxiety going for the men's event. :coffee:

Yeah we should always keep that entry+jump alive for future generations

Pass the Olympic torch on ... can't wait for the ceremony!! Who will light the torch in Korea!!!!!

CBC has a commercial telling the story of Joannie Rochette and how her mom died of a heart attack 2 days before the free program in Vancouver. She went on to win the bronze medal. I cry every time, why do they do this? Do they know how stressful watching skating is already?

I'm rooting for OAR - well I root for everyone, but Russia has been through a lot so you have my soft spot. Plus I think T/M SP is good !

The placement points each country gets in all SPs are carried into the FS.

With only 5 teams in the FS she SP is way more important than the FS in this team event.

I think the judges were a bit desperate at that point!! They basically 'let it go' for the final skater.
