2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 1

Nathan Chen

4F+2T, a bit scratchy on the landing. 2T pop on the quad, ouch. Hard fall on the 3A. Spins were not as precise as I've seen before nor the footwork as exuberant as he has done before.

Didn't expect Chen to have such a rough skate. That pop on the quad toe has been haunting him all season and it was no different this time around. He lost about 14 points on the base value with the pop and the 2T. That fall on the 3A will haunt him as well. I'm really hoping this doesn't mean he's too gassed at this point in the season.

Kolyada up. Somehow I already know it'll be an unmitigated disaster

and if it's not I'll be delighted and pleasantly surprised.

what on earth just happened?

Also, for those watching on NBC online, who are the commentators? I assume this is the international feed?

I think it's the international feed. It's the Aussie woman who commentates on the Olympic YouTube Channel videos from Sochi.

OMG I was just going to say the same thing.

Someone please tell NBC that there are other skaters in the world besides Chen. I want to watch the whole competition, not the Nathan Chen show. smh

I don't think they even mentioned Shoma yet? How?
