2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 3

Glad Kolyada got it together in the second half! Hopefully he'll feel even more settled for the individual now.

Also, not sure how long I'll last tonight - the forums already crashed on me once now

Omg, SarahSynchro, I need this explained! Like, really, my mom's wandering the same and I don't have a clue how should I respond :p

They train it out of their brain basically. It's a reflex which can be controlled (and they have to control a few others to do this).

No, they couldn't have. They have to change the ladies, and the pairs had to be changed as Tarasova got a mild injury. So that's the 2 allowed changes.

Did not know about pairs, thanks.

Although in my little world, either one of Zhenya/Alina could have done two.:)

I just think that these quads are getting to the men athletes. Like they need to absolutely land the quad to have a chance to medal. I say restrict these quads to 1 in SP and 2 in FP because when they fall it suffers the program.

Agree but disagree. I would have either a harsher penalty for falls or change the 10% second half bonus to a 10% bonus for skating without a fall.

Agreed. And also, in terms of emoting, that's subjective of course, but I would say that Tessa and Scott are some of the best at that. YMMV.

And they really are both great dancers, especially Tessa. Which, side note, that reminds me of that video for Tessa and Guillaume dancing together. My Dad always says that they're both more impressive in it than Sam. I hope we get more of those after the season ends.

You 100% right I put emotion in performance quality. You cannot buy that crazy connection either. Or learn, you can work on your relationship but something has to be there. Almost unfair, but it is what it is...

Gorgeous, gorgeous skate from Matteo! And of course, the Beatles!:luv17::love::luv17:

Deepness of edge, crazy performance quality, quality of the elements, better dancers by far too. It's not just clean technique.

Agreed. It's not that V/M are overscored, it's more that Shibs are underscored. They have very clean technique, and have great PCS, too. Yesterday was fair, though. I'm not into Ice Dance, but this seems about right.

I fell in love with Matteo's skating at Euros. Really excited with how he's peaking late in the season and to follow him in the future ^_^
