Wow Mirai and Kaori. Mirai and the 3A was it clean have to see the protocols. Kaori I hate the program bring on Candyman. And the beginning is a cheap rip off of Evgenia. But they are putting pressure on Daleman. But the problem is Virtue and Moir probably could have a fall and 0 on an element and still score enough to win gold.

Kaori Sakamoto (JPN)

A bit of a skid off the 3F takeoff but looks clean. Nice 3S to follow. Well-defined curves in the step sequence. Great speed through the flying sit spin. Wonderfully secure 3Lz and 3F+3T. Eeked out that 2A+3T landing. Good knee bend in the 3Lo and an alright 2A+2T+2Lo. And a decent layback spin as well. Seems like she got dinged on one of the triples, perhaps 3T on the 3F+3T combo.

I wished she had more timing and phrasing outside of the places where she mimes in the choreography. But she has brilliant ease and glide over the ice with effortless speed. A strong performance from Kaori that should go below Mirai.

She can do better. It is this program. It is terrible. Hopefully, next year they will get a better program.

Mirai is the second American woman to land 3A in international competition. There are eight total women who have landed it in international competition- Midori Ito, Tonya Harding, Yukari Nakano, Ludmila Nelidina, Mao Asada, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Rika Kihara, & Mirai.
