Damn it... I am super busy those dates... I think i will not be able to attend live.. would have liked to contribute to the discussion...

Mango : as you know, i am a newbie when it comes to juniors and also when it comes to everything below the international/national levels... So, for the first time this year, not only I am watching some juniors (give me a break with novice for at last a few years LOL) and I streamed some of the sectionals....

Here is my question which may be helpful for others like me...

Bye : we know some skaters get bye to Nationals... were there some getting byes to Challenge?
Qualifying : I am assuming there is a number of skaters per section making it to challenge.... can you elaborate? I am sure we will get entry lists and what not but I'd like to understand the process a bit more.... as it's rather uneven and could be uneven year to year... for instance.. there were only 4 boys competing in Ontario and 8 in Quebec.... now, mind you, I am not talk about levels here... but how is it decided who makes Challenge??? Are there TES minimums for instance? etc

THANKS!!!

SnowWhite has already made a list of those who have byes to the Nationals and those who have byes to the Challenge (based on the info provided at https://info.skatecanada.ca/index.php/en-ca/rules-of-sport/54-competitions.html#h13-byes): https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?65874-2018-Skate-Ontario-Sectionals&p=1828880&viewfull=1#post1828880

Mango also shared the "Procedure for Filling Challenge Entries" on the Team Canada thread, and there is a minimum TES for the free skate: https://info.skatecanada.ca/index.php/en-ca/procedures/211-procedure-for-filling-challenge-entries.html

This page lists how many skaters/teams each section can send to the Challenge: https://skatecanada.ca/national-team/qualifying-structure1/

good to know that S/B and Daleman are doing Challenge. Though I could see Daleman WD if SkAm goes very well.

I will do what I can.

gosh this is the best ever

regarding sunday... i have to be at the far east side of the city at 5pm.... and the ladies finish at 345pm... i'd need to be superman to do that... so i will skip challenge... i will stream it and leave from downtown though to meet my friends :)

I hope Gabby goes : she needs to get her edge jumps under control... i cannot imagine how painful those must be after the surgery she's had... omg.

Seguin/Bilodeau are still signed up.

I will post results and videos the day after to give Skate Canada time to upload stuff. The Challenge events run so long that it gets crazy and I am sure us hardcore fans will watch live anyways.

ETA: The unofficial live scores are up here in case anyone wants some protocols and results.

Unless something unexpected occurs, I should be able to attend the Senior Men and Senior Pairs Short Programs this evening.

i hope there will be archives

It does appear that the livestreams are archived :yes2: , although most of the videos that have been uploaded so far don't specify the event. The title is simply "Rink #: 2018 Skate Canada Challenge / Défi Patinage Canada", which isn't very helpful.

I am going to watch at least my favourite men :luv17: Spending midnights in their company seems to be a perfect pattern for living

Absolutely! :2thumbs:
