Did it change recently on the rules cause I remembered at 2016 junior worlds when Polina T. WD before the start of the SP and Alisa Fedichinka WD before the FP (After being 1st in the SP) and Maria Sotskova had to get silver or better to keep 3 spots.

Depends on why you WD, and when

- illness or injury, (provided this illness or injury is certified by the
ISU Medical Advisor) or
- unexpected damage to the equipment during the warm up or the
performance (provided this damage of the equipment is certified by
the Referee),

are not considered as entered for the purpose of this Rule if they did not
start or finish the Free Skating/Free Dance, but were among the top ten
(10) in the Short Program/Short Dance.

she doesn't fit those but overall it's better for Korea as it's 12th not 10th that Hanul needs.

Not loving West Side Story on Mariah. Jumps are slow and awkward. But this audience gets GOLD for supporting skaters through good and bad.
