I think Elena would have been the safest choice. She isn't always entirely clean, but tends to score decently and not have complete meltdowns.

Plus she has a bigger international reputation which helps PCS. But honestly the 3 spots are safe so why shouldn’t the Russian Fed float a new girl out there to see how she does and start building her rep a bit.

Yes, that's what I meant, though. She had 3 comps in 3 weeks lined up, that's too much, the sensible decision would be to have rested her after JW.

I'd be ok with Laurine and Hamul. Mariah's skate was bad. Raf was right to be disgruntled. Raf has actually been on good behavior here. I've heard alot of "good job" in the K&C with him with other skaters.

Yeah, I'd have Mariah third at this point actually. It seems like she got more of a boost from her PCS and a couple of questionable GOE calls given her low low low energy level and that program.

What you are saying is completely false. Konstantinova popped her solo jump in the SP - 0 points. Tsurskaya solod her Lutz in the FS - 0.66 points. So they both essentially made just as costly a mistake. The main issue is that Tsurskaya should be scoring 5+ more PCS than Konstantinova, just like she does internationally. Konstantinova shouldn't score more PCS than Tsurskaya like she did. Furthermore, Konstantinova had several two-foot landings and URs that went uncalled and two-foot landings and scratchy landings got high GOE also.

Exactly my thoughts but I guess they couldn't break the rules and give the next in line a chance. I hope Konstantinova either gets consistency or bombs at Nationals, too.

I'm going to cut Stanislava some slack. She hasn't done the senior version of this program since December and has been training solely the junior program since then. She was just at JW two weeks ago and only learned she'd be at Worlds a week ago. She didn't have time to prepare mentally for this competition. I blame the morons that thought she should still be first alternate even though she'd be doing JW already.

RusFed is that you?! lolz seriously! This is the type of reasoning that got this mess here in the first place. The writings were on the wall. She’s had several international outings and they’d been disastrous by russia’s depth and standard. Cut her some more slack and you’d be doing that at the expense of others with better resume and promise...heck, you’d be doing that at the expense of the system. Talent pool this deep should be equitably distributed. So yeah, I’m seething at your comment.
