2018 Worlds Pairs Short Program

Astakhova/Rogonov and Peng/Yin... now, let's get the party started! The beers are cold, chicken is ready. I'm in! :agree:

The lead won't change a least till Russians. It will start to get really interesting then.

Wait, Peng/Jin went back to last year SP???

So this was my If-I-have-to-skip-a-flight-this-is-the-one group. Hence, limited impressions as I was only peeking in at moments.

Esbrat/Novolselov - It doesn't look like it went too well, so perhaps it's for the best that I missed them entirely. Their music sounded nice though.

Ruest/Wolfe - They're representing Canada, where pairs skating is traditionally strong, so I hold these two to a higher standard than some pairs. Not bad. Not amazing, but not bad, especially if he is one of the skaters whose skates went missing on his flight over.

Also, is this officially Canada number 3 now? That would be slightly concerning. Again, not that they aren't good but just not quite up to where Canada 3 should be yet. Until R/W get up to speed, can we temporarily adopt Ryom/Kim?

Suzaki/Kihara - He originally came back and switched to pairs for Narumi Takahashi, right? Good to see he's continued on, even made the Olympics with his new partner. There's some sad irony in that. Anyway, from what I saw, ok job. I'm continually concerned about his wrists/hands though. He seems to have lingering injury issues there.

Petranovic/Souza-Kordeiru - Terrific twist! No, they aren't future world beaters but I'm liking these two. Something that catches my eye is that they both aren't built super-slim and long like most skaters - her shape reminds me a bit of Julianne Seguin. I like pairs that go against the expected a bit, like Sui/Han with their minimal height difference.

I'm probably going to miss even more of this coming flight. :(

My Eurosport is suddenly in English?!?!?!?
Who's the lady commenting?

Walsh/Michaud have been better when they've competed against them as seniors, but they didn't have their minimums.

Spaniards skated with heart AND from their hearts, loved them and the moment they created

Wow, the best I've seen so far from Spain in pairs!

The only big weakness was a death spiral.

So many good SP's today! Too bad that only 16 pairs advance to the long.
