2019 Four Continents Men's Short Program

Oh hello To Build A Home, I thought Julian Yee would be the only one but I was wrong

I say the following in the most sincerely unsnarky way possible -

These early men are no worse than the early men at Europeans. And that has not always been the case.

I think it's a testament to the improving quality of skaters from nontraditional figure skating nations. And that is a very good sign for global growth.

I just read this in a thick David Attenborough voice, -A Documentary on the Evolution of Early Man

I'll be honest, European men are kinda sad barring Javi(who is now retired, so until Aliev or Kolyada skate up to their potential... it remains just sad)

Kévin Aymoz is giving me everything I need and more with his amazing skating this year.

Deniss! Kevin!

Not so. Sad.

Now back to 4CC.....

I've got money on Rizzo for next Javier style slow climb up to the very top of the rankings. And France has a few good men. It's sporadic all over though. Men's skating is in an Asia/North America upswing.

Well, I guess what I was intending to imply was that the early flights of 4CC used to be almost embarrassing. I don't see that now. There's some technical skill, some good interpretation, and so forth. Not at the level of the best skaters, I grant, but none of this has made me pity the skaters.

The overall quality at Euros used to just blow away the overall quality at 4CC. Now, I'd say they're about the same.

HEY... I didn't know you were contractually allowed to skate to this song unless you where wearing some shade of pink.

I for one am happy to see more skaters from smaller feds even if they are still in a learning process. I want the sport to grow internationally and reach into places it has never reached before.

I miss Han Yan and his 3A, but I like He a lot. He's got nice style, and I think his jumps are there. Shame about the fall.
