2019 World Championships Free Dance

She's busy getting hankies for Piper and Paul

Just regular little hankies? Weak. I have a stack of king sized bedsheets, all ready for me to blow my nose and sob into.

As long as I can stay awake, that is.... sigh. If not, I’ll be using them later, when I’m crying over my inability to not pass out.

I love the velvet on Sara's bodice, it looks like armor. With the dutch braid and the bubblegum pink dress it looks like she about to go into battle in candyland

Morning all. Bang on time for Sara and Kirill! I’m so done it at this stage that I didn’t hear the alarm.

I've really enjoyed this free dance all season. Yeah the music cuts are a bit strange in the beginning, but the music is good for them and there is some interesting choreography.

Sara HURTADO / Kirill KHALIAVIN
Spain
Music: Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd; Vladimir's Blues by Max Richter; Sign of the Times by Harry Styles
Choreography by: Iker Karrera, Alexander Zhulin, Sergei Petukhov
Costumes: Soft pink dress with postmodern silvery-striped bodice/breastplate for her (striking!); basic black for him

Program Layout:

Steps into
Dance Spin - nice first position but very slow. Level 4, 1.01 goe Cartwhell exit out and right into
Rotational Lift - with no set up (hard to build up speed so more difficult). Lunge out. Nicely done. Level 4, .98 goe
Twizzles - Level 4 for both, 2.06 goe. Nicely done
Tempo change into
NT St Seq - Really well done. Level 3 for both, 1.58 goe.
Music cut/slight tempo change into
Serp Step Seq - which is (gasp!) actually in hold, so good for them. It does have a bit of a dated feel however. They're smart to put it with the music they did. Level 3, 2.26 goe
Curve Lift with leap entry. Level 4, .64 goe. The transitions looked ungainly.
Chor Char Step Seq - also with a clear axis. Good. Nice and big. 2.49 It's well choreographed.
SL Lift - to one foot. Level 4, .98 goe
Chor Lift - which is rather simple but effective. 1.66 goe
Chor Spinning Move - which I think is the single most interesting and original piece of choreography in the program. It's quite unusual and spot on. 1.87 goe

Well they wanted to try something different and they did. I'm not sure they reconciled the same dilemma that plagued V/M sometimes: how do you integrate a traditional step sequence into a program that isn't trad ballroom at all?
Also a bit sluggish today.

We're probably back to some classical schtick next season. You heard it here first!

Score: 108.48. Yes, it was a bit off today.

Is it just me, or did H/K look slower than usual today? I thought they'd been faster in this dance on the GP series.

Let's see if I still like this team as much as I did yesterday

Up now, but haven't seen the Short Dance yet. So, for the rest of you...
