Mostly on another site.
I was about to say, haven't seen it over here must be thinking about another site. Nowhere more do you realise how US-centric another site is than the figure skating board there. As though "it took XYZ happening to make figure skating World's clean". Reeks of narcissism to try to connect it in this way. And for those getting excited finding a silver-lining when this is so much bigger than figure skating, no words.

I've seen some comments like that here, too. In the new thread about the ban. I can just say that there's no point to watch the international figure skating now. It's just sad that after covid now this happens. But understandable considering everything, I guess..

So, is the post-Olympic meeting between Putin and the Olympic medalists and coaches happening or not?

Here's an article saying it's scheduled for March 4th, that everyone has to go into quarantine for 10 days, and that Valieva is already in camp.

They would have had to go into quarantine about the 23rd or perhaps the 22nd... the large scale invasion began the 24th.

But Valieva and the rest of Team Tutberidze are obviously not in camp right now.

I don't really fear for anyone's physical safety, but I do fear figure skaters will get roped into doing pro-Putin PR and end up hurting their images. From what I've seen from instagram likes, I don't think anyone would want to do it but money can talk in a bad economy.

It will be interesting to see if Yagudin and Rita Mamun have hurt their careers by speaking out.

No they haven't hurt their careers. I'm sure all of them are against this invasion. All they have to say we are against war and I think that's all they've said. I'm not expecting any of the figure skaters or Russian athletes to come out and say I support this 100%.

Is is the transfer window open already?

Good luck to Aliona at CSKA. But I hope she's working with coaches besides Buyanova. Its that coach ended the careers of high level skaters like Polina Maria and Elena. She also had a 15 year old Nastya and although that did not pan out she actually skated pretty well when she competed for CSKA. That girl just had injury problems as well and the coach did not like that and expelled Nastya after one season. Aliona's health has not been great not been great to say the least. This could be a risky move but why not take it?

But at least the super talented AK lady will be the number one lady at CSKA whereas at TT she was buried beneath 5 or 6 ladies.

I did think going back a few weeks that TT would lose 2 or 3 ladies and I still think that will happen. I also think TT will want to focus a little more on men than they have and they will try to get one of the Saint Petersburg high level men and see if she can make something of them.

I don’t like the coaching methods and practices in the school she was previously with, so I hope she found a better place to continue her career.
I hope so too. I also hope it's closer to her Parent's home so alleona can see them and her brother more often. But that coaching team also made her the best lady skater in the world a couple years ago though and if not for the virus she probably would have won worlds in addition to Europeans. She was pretty close to being automatic.

AK is fantastic I hope we see her rise up again. But her new coach will want her to go out and perform. Coach Elena was not too tolerant of nastia when she couldn't train because of injury or whatever. Now alyona is on a different level of talent and skating skills and technical ability so maybe she will be more patient with her than she was with Anastasia.

I hope she does, because the first time she skated her short program this year, I felt her recovery had started and I enjoyed it. Also, I am looking forward to different choreography for next year.

Fingers crossed Gubanova consolidates her position too at worlds.

R-Sport says she was asked to leave by the coaching staff.

Partial Google translation from their article:

The parting with figure skater Alena Kostornaya took place at the initiative of the coaching staff of Eteri Tutberidze, a source familiar with the situation told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, a RIA Novosti source said that the European champion - 2020 moved to the group of Elena Buyanova.

I find them abhorrent, too, so I'm not unhappy she's out of there. After how Tutberidze and co. talked about her all season (e.g. calling her out for not training with a broken arm, until she did train with it and promptly broke the second one), it doesn't surprise me either. I'm just not thrilled with Buyanova as a choice.

She has problematic attitudes that, sadly, are very similar to the bodyshaming known to the Tutberidze camp.

Read that interview and what happened to Gubanova at Buyanova's camp. The whole "constant training, constant results" won't work with Aliona, who's recovering from two serious injuries in a row. She needs a slow rebuilding process.

Personally, I would have preferred Sokolovskaya. She isn't known for her work with girls but Kondratiuk just had a breakout this season and she seems very sensible and sympathetic.

This is what she said about Mark:

"He’s lazy, but he has a special laziness. He knows when to stop. This helps him a lot. Being a lazy person is generally a big advantage."

Given how often Aliona's been accused of being "lazy", maybe a coach with an attitude like that would be a better fit. Well, at least she's at CSKA now, so the way to Sokolovskaya isn't far…

Sokolovskaya just took in Kulikova and Kolesnikov.
