Tuktamysheva made it to Worlds last year because Valieva, Usacheva and Khromykh were all underage which won't be a problem this season.
And more importantly Kostornaia was in a bad shape which I hope won't be a problem this season..

Ladies and gentlemen, a star is born! :points:

Isn't that the same girl who competed in ice age with Akatieva and Berestovskaya? I remember she was a few months older than them. What happened last season? I didn't see her at junior nats.

To get on the Olympic team barring probably several people having complete implosions, she's going to need a quad in addition to her 2 triple axels, we've seen her do 1 or 2 different types in practice and once she attempted a quad toe in competition, which she fell on and when she did it she swapped out a triple axel for the quad. So yes, while it's only test skates, its a bit frustrating to see her do this layout that's not going to get her on the team and when she really needs to get some experience under her with a more difficult layout and a quad for her FS, so that she can do it in competitions cleanly for consideration to the Olympic team.

Don't you think that if she could jump the quad, she would? Apparently she was not able to land it or get it consistent?
I'm sure she is doing the best she can.

negotiations are underway with the St. Petersburg federation for the transfer of Maria Talalaykina to Italy, the negotiations are underway with the St. Petersburg federation for the transfer of Anastasia Gubanova to Armenia
Yes! I was just thinking about those two and I feared we might never see them again.

They need to finish these transfers like...yesterday. And then submit them to Nebelhorn pronto...and then we might have them at the Olympics! :yahoo:Yeehah!

Maria T Italian...that might put up some strong competition though. How many spots do Italy have for Olympics? They need a gazillion spots pronto.

Do they have citizenships? Also when did they last compete internationally for Russia. IDK if they are eligible for this olympics but maybe the next?

In Ladies at the moment? None. Gutmann didn't qualify for the free at World's.

We discussed this before when Gracheva was in the works of transfering to Moldova. Apparently you must not have competed for your federation internationally in two seasons. And Gubanova and Talalaikina haven't done that.

EDIT: Gracheva is not listed as transfering to Moldova anymore on Wikipedia. I wonder what happened...:scratch2:

I don't believe Talalaikina has Italian citizenship (if she did, she'd presumably have been competing for Italy all along); she'd have to wait for the next Olympics. Though they could theoretically send her to Nebelhorn to try to secure an Olympic spot that one of the other Italian women could then use.

I also saw that Gubanova is switching to Armenia starting this season. Unfortunate about the citizenships for the Olympics (or can they get around it?), but at least we'll be seeing Maria and Nastya at Euros and Worlds this season!

I think she's working hard on it. It's a good idea to get these programs accomplished with all her triples first because we've seen on several occasions the quad or 3A not helping at all if the skater misses multiple easier triples. But as Amei said, it's going to be hard for her to make the team without a quad. Kamila and Anna can beat her on both TES and PCS, Sasha can beat her handily on TES, while Alena could match her on TES (if she regains the 3A) and score much higher on PCS, not to mention a few other talented first-year seniors who can potentially outjump Liza.

Yay! :yahoo:We might get to see the magnificent Maleficent again!:D

Ok, I'll calm down now. It's just that I would love to see these girls continue. I love them sooo much.

But hey, why not take a look at the magnificent Maleficent once again! :D
Sorry, I know I have probably posted this vid on here a hundred times. But I just love it is sooo much.;)

Should be played in high volume for maximum artistic effect

Why are the GOEs so low, I think that each GOE should be at least 0.5 higher.

Gubanova doesn't have citizenship? You can compete for any country without even living there?

I'm right there with ya Pauli... :D

Let's play!

If she had gotten 0.5 higher GOE it wouldn't have mattered, she would have been 9th anyway.
But if we give her 1.0 higher GOE she would possibly have gotten into 6th place and beaten Nugumanova - and been on the National reserve team instead of her.

With the exception of the Olympics you can compete internationally without citizenship. Its not that unprecedented, just to name a few - below are skaters that were born/raised/train in 1 country but competes for another country, some of these skaters do have some familial connections to the country that they represent on the international stage. I'd be willing to bet money if these skaters were asked and honestly answered (aka the non-politically correct answer) they would be representing the country they were born/raised in if they could get international assignments skating for them
  • Anastasia Galustyan, born and raised in Russia - competes for Armenia
  • Alina Urushadze, was born in Latvia, raised in Russia - competes for Georgia
  • Ekaterina Ryabova, born and raised in Russia - competes for Azerbaijan
  • Viktoriia Safonova, born and raised in Russia - competes for Belarus
  • Elizabet Tursynbayeva, born and raised in Russia - competes for Kazakhstan.
  • Morisi Kvitelashvili, born and raised in Russia - competes for Georgia.
  • Alexia Paganini, born and raised American - competes for Switzerland.
  • Emmy MA, born and raised America - competes for Taiwan.
  • Shan Lin/Ashley Lin. born and raised in America - competes for China **Shan Lin is her Chinese name; when she competed as an American she went by Ashley Lin
  • Emilea Zingas, born and raised American - competes for Cyprus
  • Ekaterina Kurakova, born and raised in Russia - competes for Poland

I don't have an issue with people changing countries or anything. But for a lot of these people (Paganini or Tursynbaeva) even if they've never lived there, they have citizenship.
I knew that Krasnozhon competed without American citizenship, but he lived in the US. I thought there might be a residency requirement, but I guess that wouldn't work for pairs and such. I just learned something new, I guess.
