Yeah, I remember watching a Brian Boitano where he missed his lutz but attempted it without the arm over the head. These skaters can get accustomed to doing the jump in a more difficult way, and it can become easier to do for them once they have mastered that technique.
I don't think you've understood what I've said.

One of the difficulty for a person doing a "difficult variation" is that they literally are attempting a jump that is unusual for them. Hence Boitano's tano Lutz being difficult for him, because he never learned the Lutz that way from the ground up, nor the other jumps.

The difficulty is debatable for a person if this is the way they've literally learned that jump and all their other jumps, and in general look like they literally cannot jump a different way.

If this is what you are also saying, we agree. Otherwise, we do not.

There is no 'difficult variation' as a term related to the jumps, existing in a point system. Everybody can jump the way is better for them personally. And regarding your interpretation of 'wrong jumping technique' - jumping only from the legs is equally wrong, Not using your upper body is actually far worse for the whole aesthetic and safety of the jump.

 keep on keeping on, Baron.

I saw a collection of rumors on another site, that Anna has a leg fracture(how is this possible with the scheduled performances?!?) and that Aliona is in bad shape and her 3A is nonexistent. Has anyone else seen these rumors? I'm hoping they're completely fake... :scratch2:

I think the rumor of a leg fracture have been dispelled, if she did have a fracture I doubt she'd be doing that. Additionally - this looks less hammer-toe that it was at the end of last season.

Anna is doing a Master and Margarita program. I think I'm falling in love with her all over again. :love2:

Interesting soundtrack, but got a lot songs to the soundtrack so I'm curious what songs they will use.

Anna SP allegedly has some eastern/oriental theme.

Makes sense with the Olympics being in Beijing to go with a program that would emphasize/pay homage to that culture.

According to Lapidarnost, Anna skated without quads and Aliona without 3As in practice. Kamila with some mistakes. So Sasha looks to be in the best shape, but well, that's usually true and then different in actual competition...

With the exception of Valieva, none of this surprises me, both Shcherbakova and Kostornaia have always been more conservative with those elements and it's just test skates, while yes important, we saw in their first senior season - at Test skates Shcherbakova fell on her quad but about 2 weeks later nailed it at lombardia trophy, Kostornaia didn't even attempt a triple axel and then hit 2 triple axels a few weeks later at Finlandia trophy. Trusova, I don't think anyone is surprised at her being strong and flashing quads/triple axels right and left at test skate practices; for Trusova, I don't think it matters what happens in practice or warmups, its proving that she can do it consistently when the pressure is on during competitions.

How exciting? I just wish there was an update on the non-Eteri girls too.
Elizaveta N…. Hopefully, she is landing her 3Lo 3Lo combo cleanly and 3Lz (her hardest jump) along with other triples fully rotated
Sofia S…. The fighter. Hopefully, her triples are strong and has a proper lutz
Elizaveta T…. Pretty sure she has the 3A from St. Petersburg test skates. I wonder if she will try the 4T
Kseniia S…. Hopefully, she has mastered the 4T

I’m excited to watch the test skates to decide which programs I like and which ones I dislike. It will make a difference in terms of who I root for. All I know, is I’m hoping Kamila changed her free skate

Then we know you aren't rooting for Valieva, it's already been said she's keeping Bolero
