Personally, I think it's a simplification of what's happening. Humans aren't rigid bodies. I was actually discussing this with someone, because I was all confident about the mechanics, and suddenly doubted myself due to a discussion that I think @Vilord was having here, about how it can help to jump higher - because essentially you are applying muscle power to get up into the air (even if incorrectly, because "jumping from the arms" is bad technique in skating).I think arms overhead helps axis and rotation, but might sacrifice a bit of height/distance. Either way it seems in some cases almost like a crutch rather than the handicap that it's treated as by the scoring system.
rougher landings/lack of glide out.
Then I don't understand why Kamila says that she cannot keep her 3A centered without a rippon.actually since it creates a longer axis and higher center of gravity for the skater, it's a lot harder to control in the air. its really easy to get sideways in the air, you really have to be precise in your takeoff.
Sasha's 4S looks amazing.
There's footage of Aliona as well, in the instastories of this account: https://www.instagram.com/angelinaveiraukh/

Umm... Winter was choreographed by Rozanov. Shae only did Aliona's free programs.Sounds like she's still using winter. I wonder what is the meaning of Eteri keeping her sp music from her Plushenko programs? I guess Danill G must have took it personally when Alena yapped on about getting to work with a "world class" foreign choregrapher at Plushenko whose Winter sp turned out to be a mess. Now they get to prove that homebaked Danill G choregraphy is just as good as a overpriced foreign takeaway.![]()
I think they misspoke. They would mean that attaining that position in the air takes more time (and work) than a regular rotation position. The sideways thing I imagine only becomes an issue if you haven't literally learned to jump like that from ground up - as with Valieva 3A.Then I don't understand why Kamila says that she cannot keep her 3A centered without a rippon.

She is a much bigger girl. She is heavier as well-all muscle needless to say-but definitely working with post puberty adjustment.
Yeah, I remember watching a Brian Boitano where he missed his lutz but attempted it without the arm over the head. These skaters can get accustomed to doing the jump in a more difficult way, and it can become easier to do for them once they have mastered that technique.I think they misspoke. I like how literally a day ago the rumor was completely opposite! Love this rumor though, please let it be true, baby Jesus. It's probably stupid to read too much into rumours when we'll find out in like 48 hours but apparently Aliona has two 3As planned in the free (according to both Elena Rodina and Katya Lazareva). Fingers crossed![]()
Exciting news! She had great success with the jump a few years ago, and it looked technically solid back then, so hopefully she's regained the consistency. It's probably stupid to read too much into rumours when we'll find out in like 48 hours but apparently Aliona has two 3As planned in the free (according to both Elena Rodina and Katya Lazareva).
