Sigh, are we kicking off the ever-changing layouts for Trusova again?
There are reports that she may be injured

Well, Sasha was not on my podium prediction.Is anyone else considering changing their first and second place prediction order?
1. Daria
2. Young You
3 Kaori
On other hand, I was betting (on a base of 5 quads) that she will fall in two, pops another one, a call on the 4F and just a clean quad. With today's demonstration, I am not so far from reality.
And I thought I've been rather harsh about Trusova's competition woes,, but Young You isn't exactly the beacon of consistency in competition either and she has less tricks in her arsenal. Kaori was at Worlds and was relatively clean (an edge call and I'm guessing a rough landing on her triple-triple) scored only 137, Trusova with only 1 clean out of 5 quads got 152.
Now if she really is injured and this isn't just the likes of TSL making drama based off a bad practice, that certainly can make your prediction seem far more realistic, if the injury is making her pop the quads into singles and doubles that's worse points-wise than under-rotations and falls.

I live in Asia, same timezone as China. European competitions are usually around midnight for me and then Skate America will be at 4am and 6am. All of you shut up.

I want my skating at optimal times. I can't believe they're not skating early in the morning Vegas time. That would work for me

Ow you haters, when she jumps 5 quads in practice, it has nothing to do with the competition.
But when she doesn't, then suddenly she is getting defeated by 3 skaters that never defeated her before...or even came close to.

I was just thinking to myself recently that if she keeps jumping a lot of quads again, she’ll get injured like she did last year…
On one hand, this season is the most important one and a skater would do anything to be on top, and not letting her jump would probably make Sasha have regrets and thinking “what if…” in case she didn’t get to her goal.
On the other hand, the sheer number of attempts was always going to increase the risk of injury. I hope they’re more careful now and she heals quickly.

If it’s coming from media, they phrase things differently for the audience not too familiar with skating.
It says that we will see “very complex elements” in her performance.
From the practice layout looks like 2-3 quads is more likely and more than enough to win by a wide margin.

I see pairs will be the highlight for once. It's good to see this discipline won't be left for the first morning of the competition or so. Of course that's because China feels a big opportunity for the gold medal, but I'm glad about that pairs may receive the attention they deserve.

It’s hard to believe that to Ksenia and Anna Shcherbakova are the same age. Partially because Ksenia had less exposure to senior competitions, because she was born in August and then also Covid happened. Another thing is Anna looks younger than her age and was always very skinny. Ksenia looks even younger than Anna to me.
