2021 JGP Austria: Women's Free Skate

And I didn't get going for a wee walk to waken me up properly, because I was writing Ted an e-mail to tell him my 2 favourite Junior GP moments.

I hope he gets it.

Well, I had to explain why they meant so much! ;) :p

Don't worry, it wasn't too long. Just a sentence for the first, and 3 bullet points for the second.

By the way, now that I have a chance. Who is that in your avatar? Because I can't think, and the Google Image search isn't even recognising that it is a figure skater, never mind who it is.

it's Lara! why nobody recognise her?

Don't like this female version of "Arabian Nights". Would have preferred the original male version. Or the instrumental version.

And before elektra complains, there was no "Prince Ali".

Nevertheless, she goes into 2nd.

Now for some useless information. Weronika Ferlin is 2 days older than the current leader, Chiara Hristova.

That is despite the fact that Weronika looks about 8, whereas Chiara looks a least 16.

They are actually 13, turning 14 at the end of next month.

CaroLiza_fan

she's showing you how to wax your armpits

[CaroLiza_fan cringing just thinking about the pain it must involve]

To be fair, it is a good example. There was one of the girls that we saw yesterday who hadn't done her's as well as that. Can't remember who and, even if I did, I wouldn't embarrass her by saying.

CaroLiza_fan

Awww. Ted reminding us that he is actually a Kiwi. 🇳🇿

The reason being is that Vlada Vasiliev (AUS) was also born in New Zealand.

Mind you, from her costume, I would have sworn that she was actually German. (Look at the flashes!)

Vlada is another of our younger participants, and she did well.

Slots in 1 place behind Weronika in both FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

...and from the skater who I would have thought was German from the costume, we have the skater that is German.

Although I didn't like her music yesterday, I really liked everything else about Aya and her programme.

Today, I loved the music, and the costume. But, unfortunately, everything went wrong with the skating.

She was crying under that mask.

Aya, we know you can do it. So, just put today behind you, and look forward to your next competition, wherever and whenever that may be.

Don't worry, Julija. I would have fallen too if the music started and I suddenly realised I was having to skate to Billie Eilish!

CaorLiza_fan

Actually, although it was Billie Eilish, that song wasn't actually too bad.

Unfortunately, that fall at the very start was a sign of things to come. Was it 4 falls she had?

I feel sorry for Julija, because the things that did go well were very good.

Well, she and her coach seem to not be dwelling on the negatives. They were laughing and joking while waiting for the results. Which was good to see.

And when the results did come, she still managed to go into 4th in the FS, and 2nd overall. Which, as Ted pointed out, just shows how good a skater she is.

CaroLiza_fan

Onto the final Austrian skater, Emily Saari.

I don't care if it has been over-used over the years. I LOVE the "La La Land" music.

Boys, but that was a very pink dress. And matching gloves.

Pity about the fall. Because the rest of it was beautiful.

Hello Kerstin! Nice to see you! (Would prefer to see you on the ice, but hey!)

The judges are keeping them waiting a long time. Not a good sign.

Or, maybe it is. Into 3rd in the FS, and 2nd overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Mmmmm. Peer Gynt. That's something we don't get to hear as much nowadays as we used to.

Janna JYRKINEN. What can I say? Ted said it all!

This tiny wee thing went out there, and just demolished the field!

She leads the FS by 15 points, and overall by 12.

The future of Finnish skating is looking very bright!

CaroLiza_fan

Epic "Sleeping Beauty" music!

But, Julia van Dijk certainly wasn't sleeping!

Unfortunately, she had a fall, and finished a good bit after the music. So, there will be 2 points in deductions.

But, still managed 5th in the FS, and 4th overall.

Hang on, she only got the 1 point deducted. So, she must have just managed to remain within the acceptable limits.

I like this girl.

CaroLiza_fan

Ooooh! A piano version of "Never Enough".

Beautiful girl; beautiful dress; beautiful music; beautiful piano playing...

The skating was beautiful too. Except, there were quite a few mistakes.

To be honest, I'm surprised that Emelie has scored as high as she did.

Into 4th in the FS, and 3rd overall.

When it is done cleanly, it will be even more beautiful.

(Do you think I over-did it on the beautiful?)

Near. Far. Wherever you are. I believe that the hotdogs go on...

Despite what Mariia Andriichuk and Céline Dion may think, I'm not actually having hotdogs for me tea. I'm having Irish Stew. But, I will be leaving to eat it shortly into the next group.

It was a good enough skate from Mariia. But, after hearing it so often over the past nearly 25 years in every context imaginable (just remember, I'm from the country where the Titanic was built), I'm sick of hearing that song. (Which is a shame, because I actually liked it for the first few years).

She goes into 3rd in the FS, and 2nd overall. But, still a good chunk of points behind Janna JYRKINEN.
