2021 Skate America: Pairs Short Program

I hope you were not so upset by the lower-than-deserved score of the Japanese (the idea that an international panel would be biased toward a Japanese pairs team is beyond laughable) that you didn't enjoy the almost as wonderful performance by Calalang and Johnson.
No almost about it. Jess & Brian have better overall skills than R/K. The perception is just that C/J don't complete their sbs jumps, but they did here.

Anyone who thinks R/K deserved higher than what they got are truly in love, with all reason and logic thrown out the window.

The score was too high. She fell on his arm in the dismount, and saved the throw landing. The GOE was exceedingly high on both elements. Stay blinded by your uber-love. Everybody is in love with them. While I respect how much they have improved and how hard they work, they are not better than the American teams, nor that close to the Russians either. This is very predictable.
I think they got too low a score..

GOEs are out of control. In no way should those side by side jumps have been a positive GOE — 0 at best, probably a slightly negative. Way too much GOE on the throw as well, where she visibly held onto the landing.

Their lift was stunning, though.

On a side note, I wish they'd eliminate this particular death spiral. Almost nobody deserves a positive GOE on it. Nobody gets low enough or achieves a pretty position.
