Matvei had to two stages in a row after a surgery. He only started jumping a few weeks ago. He skated in Samara, came back to St. Petersburg, and then came to Perm. All these cities are in different time zones. He didn't even come to today's morning training, as I understand it, he just didn't have the strength. He did everything to make it to his first senior nationals. The 4T attempt wasn't too smart, but it wasn't about tactics.

Ilya is a hero too. At his last stage, he was putting ice on his knee in the green room. He underwent a surgery on it in the summer. It obviously wasn't easy for him too.
