2022-23 Russian Local Events – Discussion

I find it interesting that novices have a segment called "elements". It's like the old "figures" but for the jumps.
I would love something like this in international junior competitions. It can replace the SP which for me too rigid rules.

Ive always liked the elements portion, its not just jumps by the way after the jumps they do a step sequence and 1 spin
 
4 different girls have attempted quads today! and we still have the final group to go, this might be the most quads attempted at novice qualifier elements ever. Not everyone landed but its good to see attempts.

Ekaterina T 4T fall
Arina K 4T landed, 4T+combo fall, 4T+combo fall
Margo 4T landed, 4S step out, 4T-3T landed, 4S-3T landed
Milana L 4S fall

we should be getting at least 3 more girls in this group attempting ultra c jumps
 
oh dear Lena fumbled the combo round :(
3lz-3t didn't have a clean landing and that 4S step out 3S isnt counted as a combo so they are going with 3lz-3T combo.
I think its safe to say Margo has caught up with the top 6.
 
So Margarita covered lots of ground today she is currently in 2nd place only trailing behind Lena by 3 points. Alena is 3rd with only 1 point separating her and Margo and Valeria 4th 5 points behind Alena. There is going to be a big battle for that podium finish.

the battle for the top 6 isnt over either as 6 and 12 are separated by only 5 points.

Only the top 6 move on? Tragic-there were so many girls with great jumps and programs, just not part of 'quad land' yet. So many many talented girls, so many wonderful 3L3loops for example. What a wealth of talent Russia has in this age group, these kids just keep getting better and better every year.
 
as I was looking at elements protocols I realized the judges saved Lena during the jump portion her 4S had a positive goe even tho the landing wasn't totally clean but even more obvious was the positive goe on the 3lz-3T which had a clear step out:eek:

interesting cause I always thought Alina P was the moscow judges favorite out of the 2010/2011 gen not Lena but I guess I was wrong about that .
 
idk what Lyutikov was thinking just why couldn't Vadim do a 3lutz after he fell of the 3A to get some points instead of trying for that 3A. its far smarter to do a safety jump 1st before trying an ultra c :(:bang:
