Cup of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

A lot of the regions in Russia have their own cup series in figure skating, just like the St. Petersburg Cup (First stage on September 20-23) or Moscow Cup (First stage on Septemeber 22-24). Generally, top skaters rarely are entered into the other Cups, particularly if they're not from there/training there.

I'm not sure, but I think they were sometimes used to determine who will be sent to the Russian Cup series in the past (particularly in Juniors), or as an alternative for less highly ranked skaters/skaters not yet age-eligible for the Russian Cup series (particularly in Moscow).

I wish they would have her compete with no quads or 1 quad for few of these easy comps, so she could go clean and raise her confidence a little.

I wonder if there's another unintended consequence of going to these kind of obscure competitions where she's not against any other big guns.... she can skate poorly and still win because she's got quads.

During the season, ranking points are awarded to each skater according to their place in competition and its prestige; the highest number of points is awarded at Russian Nationals.

At the end of the season, the top three in each discipline receive additional prizes:

1) 5 000 000
2) 2 500 000
3) 1 000 000

Ranking position will also determine eligibility to compete and a place in the warm-up. The detailed rules will be published before the start to the season.

Competitions

Dates of the stages are on the picture (seniors above, juniors below). No gala planned. No more than two warm-ups in the discipline. Members of the national team have guaranteed spots, the remaining participants are selected by the regions.

Gala is planned at Junior Nationals.

Jumping competition moved to St. Petersburg. Participation of pairs is planned. There will be both individual and team events.

New competition planned: 'Open gala programs competition', 18-19 March.
There's no division into disciplines. Everyone competes against each other. Participation by invitation, participants can be retired. The program must be previously unseen in public. The results will, among other things, be determined by a public vote. Detailed rules will be published later.

RusFed announce prize money for season and some new events

For GP events:

- gold - 8300 USD/ 3300 USD (senior/junior) - here and below all prizes at current exchange rate
- silver - 5000 USD / 1600 USD
- bronze - 3300 USD / 800 USD

For GP final:

- gold - 16000 USD / 5000 USD
- silver - 12500 USD / 3300 USD
- bronze - 8300 USD / 1600 USD

For RusNats:

- gold - 41000 USD / 8300 USD
- silver - 25000 USD / 5000 USD
- bronze - 16000 USD / 3300 USD

Also, skaters will get rating points in season and at the end of it top 3 will get:

1 place - 83000 USD
2 place - 41000 USD
3 place - 16000 USD

Overall, if someone will be lucky and lets say take all first places it will be 8300x2 + 16000 + 41000 + 83000 = 156600 USD

Also there will be 3 other events with money prizes:

- Channel One Cup - total prize fond - 333 000 USD
- Jump tournament - total prize fond - 166 000 USD
- Tournament for gala programs - total prize fond - 166 000 USD

Regarding exhibition programs event: it will be 'anyone vs anyone' style, even Zagimed and Yagushenko can take part : ) Anything goes: seniors, juniors, pairs/ice dance/single skaters, active or retired. But the showcase must be new, never presented before. Partially the winners will be decided by viewers' voting. The competition will take place in March in Moscow.

Jumping tournament is scheduled BEFORE Rusnats in early December, a little weird timing. Hopefully no injuries before the big thing : ) Channel One Cup in January stays a team event, but jumping tournament will be an individual one - so that's new.
