It used to be 2 groups then a resurface.

It's all about those last groups. At US Nationals a couple times they would have a tiny group and then do the resurface. You just sat down to watch skating and then there's a 30 minute break.

I’m not sure the medal ceremony has even taken place yet for the team event. Not sure why they couldn’t have given the athletes their medals at the ceremony where they gave them a mascot.

I like it when they resurface the ice after the 1st set if it's an odd number of groups. It keeps the momentum going during the last two groups, and I wonder if it impacts scores too?
