2022 Olympics: Men's Short Program

Vincent is not even a threat for the podium, his absence does not change the possible results at all.
What a disgraceful response. This is tragic regardless of whether the skater was a medal favourite or whether they were going to barely make the free. This is the Olympics; simply getting here is a life goal in itself.

Went to bed last night hoping it was a false positive and Vincent would be cleared, but clearly not. How absolutely devastating for him and I hope USFS has good mental health support in place for him, because this is a blow even the best coping strategies would struggle to deal with.

I also hope he does not have to spend much time, if at all, in those awful isolation hotels.

Skater A: 4Lz+3T in first half of program. BV =15.70 GOE = 5.59 Total = 21.29
Skater B: 4Lz+3T in second half of program to get 10% bonus. BV = 17.27 GOE = 3.61 Total = 20.88

Skater B scored lower than skater A, even after moving the element to the second half with a 10% bonus.

Who is skater A?
Who is skater B?

A = Vincent Zhou
B = Nathan Chen

Vincent wasn't a serious threat for the podium when he landed on the podium at Worlds.

Neither were Olympic champions Adelina Sotnikova, Sarah Hughes, or Alexei Urmanov when they stood ON TOP of the podium.

There's a reason we let the competition play out.

I didn't mean to be rude and I apologize if I was, of course it's devastating that Vincent now has to be in that isolation hotel for the rest of the Olympics. At least Vincent will leave Beijing with a fair medal won in the team event and hopefully no one else from either nation caught the virus.

Oh gosh less than an hour to go now.

Should I go buy milk beforehand...it's raining outside...

I have hardly recovered from pairs yesterday. And now the men´s competition is already starting. :drama: And we get a new lady commentator today, so no Daniel Weiss. :hap10:

The olympics stream says Video Unavailable.
Where will everyone be watching?
I think it'll come to life closer to the time, so don't despair yet!

Although the stream I use says "Event will begin shortly" rather than "Video Unavailable"

Eeee, this is getting exciting. I can't wait to see Donovan! This is his big moment.

I am still super sad that Kolyada and Zhou won't be there, but I am setting up to cheer for those who will be and I hope that we'll have good ice and rink monsters will be kept at bay. :cheer: Come on, we just want a great men's short! It's Olympics, and we love 'em.

But... it's a shame to come all this way and have this happen. Nothing can be done about it, but I can only imagine how heartbreaking it is for him. And I'm not even a Vincent fan.

No scary falls today, please, where you have to fear for the skaters´ health. :pray:
