Dear Members. During the first day of competitions at the Olympics we have noticed that many posters are completely forgetting that these are competition threads, as for actual skaters competing. They are not threads to express with whom you have an axe to grind, to express your political opinions, your issues about doping allegations, any issues you may have with certain countries or people, your opinion about cheating or not, disparaging comments about people experiencing mental health issues, and/or any xenophobic or homophobic opinions you wish to express. Such posts are contrary to forum guidelines in general but are especially off putting in competition threads. Please focus on what is happening on the ice.

Posts which contain such sentiments derail the thread and take the joy out of taking part in these threads for other posters who join in to enjoy the experience of watching a Figure Skating competition with like minded posters. The moderators are free to delete all such posts without warning, and will do so if this continues.

My poor fave Josefin and her Joker. Will miss her here.

Normally I can't stand having to wait past the lower level skaters in such a major competition just to get to the more capable competitors, but if there was to ever be an exception without cut off, I wish this could have been it. :slink:

First off I must say that I haven’t been posting much the last few seasons but that it’s great to see how nice the Golden Skate forum looks and feels. Hats off to the moderators and all involved keeping this thing going :thank:

Secondly.....good luck to absolutley EVERYONE in the FS!! Extra special shout out to Sasha Trusova as well as Anastasia Gubanova. I’m sure my heart will be racing the most for them!! Even though I’ve been away from online fandom as of late I’ve kept an eye on some of my old favorites and wish them nothing but the best.

I was impressed with Kaori in the SP and would love to see her continue on in impressing upon us and most importantly the judges so I will include her in my GS shout outs. Go Kaori...go thrive under the Olympic lights!!!

Have fun everyone!!

Good luck to Anna and Sasha! Although here's hoping Sakamoto goes clean and makes the podium. Pretty sure it won't be the results I'm hoping for, but there's a lot of skaters who are living their dream so here's hoping they can tune out the hot mess of an SP and we see quality skating overall from the field.

A messy podium would be a really bad look, so here's hoping the top skaters actually earn their placements/scores with good skates.

5:00AM again eh? I’m calling the police. :dbana:

Unfortunately on short program night/early morning (EST), I didn’t end up falling asleep until 3:30AM, so 5AM was not happening. I’ll see what happens this time around, it would be nice to see Madeline skate live, along with the final group. Don’t get me wrong, it would be nice to watch all the ladies/the whole event live, but with this criminal start time, that’s not gonna fly.

I’m trying to stay positive, though it’s mostly a numb feeling. I sincerely hope all the ladies are able to skate well, though I will be proud of every single one of them, no matter what. :cheer:

Hi Sarah! I am sooo happy you are back on the forum! Your presence was truly missed, your sense of humor on the forum was like a spark of life-force. And I was thinking recently what has happened with you... why no post of you in such long time.... and you are here, back💐!

Looking forward to watching it later and praying to the figure skating gods that everybody has a great skate and no meltdowns. Oh and an extra prayer if they can let Kaori win an individual medal hehe 😉

My only wish for today is that Kamilla Valieva keeps her nerves together and skates a reasonably clean free program. No matter what happens afterwards, I want her to look back with the feeling she did not embarrass herself and had an Olympic performance she can be proud of.
