2022 Olympics: Women's Free Skate

You people can judge Eteri (BIG-TIME!) for her handling of Kamila (before and after this) but blaming her for what Aleksandra is doing now? Really?

It's shocking and surprising to see it so public but frankly after seeing her the last few years, and hearing all the rumors about her father, her supposed attitude on practice s, and interviews, her throwing a full tantrum when not winning after skating clean isn't. I'm shocked but not shocked
What about her father? Perhaps she can’t handle the truth, which is that figure skating is not only jumps.

What was outstanding on Sasha´s skate? That she skated from jump to jump? Even the skaters in the first group made more of an effort to perform a program than Sasha did. You think she was underscored in PCS, I think 65 points in PCS would have been enough. So we can agree to disagree on what is an outstanding performance.
Agree. 64 max (8). In a perfect world, she would receive 7s.

I also like that Trusova brings a different note and I admire her fierceness a bit, but that has nothing to do with the quality of skating. And most of her elements lack quality. And btw Kaori isn´t much princess like either.
And that’s why my favourite skaters are Trusova and Sakomoto, that’s why I love Sakomoto’s free, and next is Liu when she doesn’t Princess around. And from the Princess camp, well, I prefer You to Sherbakova.

It is also disgusting to blame people around without solid evidence. Where you there when they doped her? Are we sure it was the team? The doctor? The grandparetns? The dog maybe?
this is actually my point. Kamila is a child, and SOMEONE ELSE gave her this drug. to claim it was a "set up" or the positive test not even true at all is just ludicrous and deflection.

and why blame the ISU? she didn't skate well and appropriately ended up off the podium. they are sore losers, bottom line.

I suddenly remembered Sasha's interview with her brother. This girl has been under the expectation to win for years, including her family. She must be devastated. She's a child. I can't believe the insensitivity in this thread. It's easy from your couch to judge her.
I think the bad thing for Sasha is that she has been hailed by social media as a star since she was 12-13 years old. Everyone has said that she will win everything. When the 3A became seniors in 2019-2020 season the same thing happened here on this forum. Everyone thought that Sasha would win. But she didn't. Someone needs to sit down and break down the rules for her and explain where she loses her points. As it is now, Sasha herself admits that she don't cares about choreography and stuff, all she wants to do is jump. But figure skating isn't just a jumping contest, you need to fill it out with other stuff.

Yes. If we go back to their junior days, no one would have thought that Anna would be the Olympic champion. Sasha was always the technical skater and Aliona the artistic skater. And Anna were somewhere in the shadow.

Well it wasn't pretty and a bit out of control, but maybe let's give Sasha the benefit of the doubt.
During the ceremony she was respectful and calm, and in the past we've had
similar (though less explosive) reactions but they were mostly briefly caught backstage.
Yes, Sasha has a temper for sure, and she blows up at times. But she also has shown that she can calm down quickly and doesn't hold a grudge. So yes, let's give her the benefit of a doubt.

its absolutely INSANE to me the Russians themselves and fans of the Russian women are blaming the ISU for Kamila's meltdown and placement on social media. Anna Pogorilaya herself is claiming Kamila's positive test was a set up. These people cannot humbly lose or put the blame where it appropriately belongs, on Kamila's team, because they too are Russian and can do no wrong. everyone else is out to get them. this is so disgusting.

Yeah it's a very cute kind of blindness, on the one hand being combatant and defensive if anyone speculates about doping,
and on the other hand making up far fetched stories that can't be backed up and believing them.

Also, many thought Anna would be left off of the Olympic team. But she has always been underestimated, winning when no one expected her to.

Anna ❤️

"I saw Kamila's skate. I was very worried for her. From the first jump I understood how hard is for her to skate. I understand these feelings. I will tell her privately, what I think about it".

Where are all the Russian supporters on here. Guess after the poor sportsmanship by Sasha and TT ..... Crickets
I was never a great Anna fan, now I love her. She was just standing there all by herself....Geez she just won the OGM.
and so great on the podium.
The Russian supporters (at least this one, dearly loving Anna and absolutely, insanely happy about her victory) much prefer talking to those who have been less .... (no comment) lately. Here it is sometimes ...(no comment).

rant in 3, 2, 1....

part of my previous post was that they are blaming the ISU for her PERFORMANCE and PLACEMENT. she was put through hell and back this last week and her team has too much pride and too big an ego to let their CHILD ATHLETE go home, rest, recover and do the right thing instead of pass up another opportunity to win win win. her team left her alone to deal with this ON HER OWN. they couldn't even properly support her. even after somehow summoning the strength to compete and just getting through it at all, it STILL wasnt good enough for Eteri. she immediately began critiquing her performance the moment she stepped off the ice.

i have no idea how Valieva has gotten through this Olympics. the pressure was bound to get to her and social media refuses to even see the weight of the situation and how this has mentally affected her. they look the other way and point the fingers at everyone else. they can't see the situation for what it actually is. bottom line is the adults around her failed her MASSIVELY, at Valieva's own cost and as i've said before the real irreparable damage was done today. she will be the one to suffer the consequences that have begun today. this girl will need serious therapy and time away when she gets home, and there's nobody else to blame but the greedy adults around her. she is a pawn in their game.

i am sorry for this rant, but what has happened to Kamila is inexcusable and the deflection and poor me cries of Russia and her fans is just disgusting. i am very, very sorry for her that her likely only olympic experience was completely ruined and she is leaving this competition devastated.

Regarding the princess discussion: Anna may seem a bit princess like on the outside, but I admire how she (almost) never crumbles under pressure and adverse circumstances. She has proven again and again she can deliver. So I think she has a lot of strenght and "fierceness" within (and I mean fierceness in a positive way).
