Maybe that's late, but the YGA (all but dance) move seems finished and confirmed

Also Alisa Mikonsaari and Angelina Turenko have moved to IceLab. Some former YGA athletes followed them there

Congrats Italy on having four great, interesting and entertaining men! How did that happen? I guess figure skating isn’t the most popular sport among boys in Italy. Seems like all four started training in South Tyrol even if that is not where all of them were born?

I don’t remember other Italian guys who had success except for Righini. Why now four stars? Are Matteo, Gabriele, Nikolaj and Daniel somehow appreciated in their country?

I hope Lara Naki Gutmann keeps her Hitchcock free skate. There is room for her to interpret it much better.

I also liked Samuel Contesti a lot (though he originally came from France). Didn't he get a medal at Euros once?

Here's my favourite programme from him:

Silver in 2009, behind Brian Joubert and in front of Kevin van der Perren.

I got a surprise there when checking. Given his surname, I always assumed that Samuel Contesti's Dad was Italian, and that young Sammy came along when Dad was playing for a French football team. The same kinda situation as tennis player Caroline Wozniacki (born in Denmark when her Polish Dad was playing for a Danish football team).

But, everything I can find says that Yves Contesti was French as well. So, the Italian ancestry must be further back than I thought. Well, on his Dad's side anyway. I don't know anything about his Mum's side of the family.

Hey, @elektra blue - Daddy Contesti had a great porntache back in the day:

Junior GP assignments

Bangkok
Men: Raffaele Zich originally assigned. He has withdrawn this week and no subs were entered
Women: Amanda Ghezzo
Ice Dance: Giulia Paolino/Andrea Tuba

Linz:
Men: they had 2 spots. Nobody entered!
Women: no spot
Pairs: Polina Polman/Gabriel Renoldi
Ice Dance: no spot

Istanbul:
Men: 2 spots available. Already gave one away when entries by number were confirmed. Then they haven't entered anyone when entries by name were done last week
Women: Elena Agostinelli. No subs. I find it quite bizarre given Italy don't have many spots in Women (4 overall) and so if something happens (I don't want to jinx it), they don't have much room to maneuver.
Pairs: no spot
Ice Dance: Giulia Paolino/Andrea Tuba. Interestingly they got the 2nd spot before anybody else debuting.

I am here to cheer for Gabriele :) indeed, Italy, in just a short time, has become a powerhouse in men's skating... and it's probably been their weakest discipline in recent years. Compare that to Canada... reversed roles. So, since I only have a couple men to cheer from in Canada, I come here to borrow Gabriele (and Matteo) ;)
