2023-2024 Russian Nationals Jumping Championships

Hey, Alena Zhilina's 3Lz edge looked to be slightly outside just there, didn't she have problems with that in the past? 🤔

Sorry, are the sound effects when someone falls actually necessary? :scratch2:

Also, big tactical mistake for Kira there, if she had just left the 3Lz as a solo jump, she would have gotten significantly more points.:console:

Seems like 3Lz+3T and 3F will be enough to go through.
That's kind of also the result of having to do different jumps for the solo and the combo. 😅

Few of the women have even one stable quad/3A, much less two to do a quad combo, so by default, many of them will do 3Lz+3T/3F+3T as the combo. And when the quad/3A didn't work or you don't have one, doing a 3Lz/3F gives them the next highest scoring potential. (Plus, it's much easier to fit the triples and 3-3s into one minute than quad attempts, I'm pretty sure.)

Those that don't give up on the quad, and fail it multiple times are the ones who are being left behind here.

The one minute is sick. But I wonder if it was intended that you only do a jump and a combo and only more jumps in case you actually fall or really fail your first attempts.

Mura's first 3A was a decent attempt (fully rotated as far as I saw, outside edge landing), but her weight was once again very far to the back of her blade, causing her to fall. It's a persistent problem on her 3A, that's also why she stepped out on so many of her 3As in the past, even when they were fully rotated.

Lovely jumper shame about the edges tho, she doesn't have a Lutz nor Flip. Only one flat edged jump.

I can't believe how much problems Mura has with 3A these days. Last year she executed them with her eyes closed!
I think it's because she's grown some. The weight distribution on her 3A landings has never been the most stably ideal (often she is quite far back on the blade, see her many step-outs), but her weight has started shifting in the air a bit too as she grew. She never used to have issues with landing on the inside edge on the 3A, but now that's a more common occurrence.
