But first, they did not update their bio, so I am not sure what songs or version they used, and neither did the judges. I regard not updating your bio as a major and annoying mistake for ice dancers especially since they can be docked 2 points for a music violation.
Their RD ends up with "La Bamba" a Mexican folk song (a 1939 version here):

Los Lobos released a version as the title track of a 1987 biopic about Ritchie Valens, which is the version I think the Kazakh kids used here:
I don't know the orher song(s), they used, but the rock versions of La Bamba says Ritchie Valens and 1958, not 1980's, to me
Their whole dance does not say 1980's to me. And It would be believable as a Latin combination.
So yes, I would have been tempted to give them a music violation myself.
