Kind of glad I didnt drive up. Their weather is going to be pretty calm there if cold but here in Spokane we keep getting hit with snow bands. Snow on the ground now for 113 days. A bonus for anyone going. The northern lights are at storm level (which means we have clouds here)

Excellent news for those in the US.

Very helpful to those of us who were looking on the ISU JGP channel (where I believe it has been in the past). Gives times in time zone of person looking!
I always get confused on their channel so I made up a playlist of the comps. Now I go to their channel and click on my play list and the comps are there for now.

I went to check out the venue today (Canadian Novice Cup was taking place there, so I figured why not) and it is just great. Warm, well arranged, comfortable seats, good light and free parking
Partner and I are heading out tomorrow for Calgary. Weather looks to be cooperating this week, whew! This event is a bit of a test run for us; if all goes well (that is, my health holds up), we are considering Montreal in 2024.

Lariko, do you have a sense of what security will be like? I have a big purse but it is very easy to search. Do you know what food services are like there? Will we be able to leave and return between afternoon and evening events? I missed out on all-event tickets, so we got individual tickets for the four days of events, and the cost was comparable. We have to give the gala a miss as it's a long (6.5 hours) drive back.

Let us know what its like when you attend. Every day at US Nats was different.....but there was always a procedure to leave and come back in and I dont think in any of my 30 comps I have been to, there was any "grounding". Lots of times we were all kicked out of the arena and asked to come back in.....Four Conts was very reasonable....I just put my paper ticket in my lanyard pouch....

Keep an eye out for the Northern lights....the solar storm is weakening but Calgary is 250 miles north of Spokane, which helps...Spokane/North Idaho last night......(depending where your hotel is, light pollution could be an issue....Calgary isnt a small town....)

It was very clear in my part of the world a couple of nights ago. But I found out about it the day after! :bang: :bang: :bang:

Here is a photo of the Aurora over Beaghmore Stone Circles, about 10 miles from my house:

And here is a video from the same spot:

Still kicking myself that I missed it!

Is Peter Cain not still an official for the Australian Fed?

I know, it gets complicated because his daughter skated for America.

Indeed...I wrote it down fast and juxtaposed where he lives to what he represents!

Hey, it's easy done. Especially when it involves a multi-national family like his is.

With the sheer amount of work you do in giving us information, you can be very proud of how few mistakes you make.

I find it kinda ironic how Kimmy Respond is going into this competition as a Senior European medalist and she is not even the favourite and might not even get on the podium because there are at least 3 girls here who scored higher in the junior grand prix than her PB at Euros. So its harder to be on the podium in Juniors than in the seniors Euros this year.
