2023 World Figure Skating Championships Women's Free Skate

Facial expressions are definitely an important way to express a program, but they are also only a small part of artistry and judging.

As with anything, facial expression can also soon end up being too much (or the unfortunate unfitting "pageant smile"), but a solid, individual balance is possible. Some skaters look more natural with a more "theatrical" expression, some with a more understated expression, it's all individual.

Personally I don't care about facial expressions at all. Kolyada does hardly have any facial expression and it doesn't take away anything for me. Hanyu doesn't do much of it, and I never felt anything lacking. But I don't mind it if it's the skaters thing and it's not over the top. I just don't need it.

Georgia Lady better not kick Nastya when she's down, or I'm gonna throw hands.
Based on her interactions with other skaters in the K&C (like for example Karina yesterday), she actually seems pretty nice and comforting towards the Georgian skaters.🤔

I think she just had too much botox and fillers, so she's just actually incapable of smiling or showing other emotions :scratch2:🙈

I seen her live twice and she looks caring. When Nastya had bad skate at Espoo GP, she hugged her.

Oh wow this is way more enjoyable program than the one with Emo Beethoven's letters!

She looks disappointed, but that was great - loved the Choreo sequence! Good on her for trying the 3A! Hope her knee heals though.
