I am hoping all thee pairs do well. I like the programme plans of all three, and I hope Letizia and Luiz are back on track.

And yep, just like I said, other skaters are at Test skates too.

Sarah Pesch's new SP music is Loud by Sofia Carson and Hannah Keiß is using Never Tear Us Apart by Bishop Briggs for her SP this season.

Hannah also already updated her ISU bio, so we know her FS music already as well - Music from the series Penny Dreadful (Melting Waltz and Demimonde by Abel Korzeniowski and Shout by Malia J)

The Löwenherz siblings didn't take part in the Senior monitoring either after missing the Junior monitoring and are not on the entry list for JGP Ankara. I assume this will also mean that they won't be able to compete at JGP Gdansk.

In May, Robert skated with Violetta Sierova, who had split with Ivan Khobta at that point, in a training course organised by the German federation, so combining all of these elements, I unfortunately come to the conclusion that Sonja is probably injured. If so, I'm wishing her a speedy and complete recovery. :(❤️

So, I have some good and some very much not-so-good news to share with you all today - Let's start with the good news:

The German fed has released their usual report on the Senior Test Skates and we are getting some additional info about the German skaters and their plans for this season.

Pairs:
  • Hase/Volodin:
    • Short Program: "You were mine" from Tami Neilson; Free Program will be announced later this/next week by Minerva herself on her IG account. Choreographers were Paul Boll and Mark Pillay
    • Minerva suffered from a pulled thigh muscle during the off-season, so Hase/Volodin didn't do all elements here (no death spiral, no spins). Jumps and lifts were good.
    • First competition will be the Nebelhorn Trophy (19. - 21.09.), then Trophy Metropole Nice Cote d'Azur (16. - 20.10.), Grand Prix de France (01. - 03.11.) and Cup of China (22. - 24.11.) and then hopefully (🤞) the Grand Prix Final (05. - 08.12.)
  • Hocke/Kunkel:
    • SP is the same as last year, Falco-Medley for the Free (Rock Me Amadeus, Out Of The Dark, Jeanny)
    • They didn't do all elements in the program run-throughs due to just returning from a training camp at an altitude
    • They will do fewer competitions this season to avoid injuries, so they'll only do one challenger - Lombardia Trophy (13. - 15.09.) - before their two GP assignments (Skate Canada (25. - 27.10) and NHK Trophy (08. - 10.11.)
  • Roscher/Schuster:
    • New SP: Shadows and Run Boy Run - Woodkid, keeping their Free from last season
    • Still recovering from injury-related loss of training time, but Luis' knee is better now and they're hoping to be able to include triple jumps as sbs jumps this season
    • They're starting their season at the Nebelhorn Trophy (19. - 21.09.)
Men:
  • Nikita Starostin:
    • SP: Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley, FS will be revealed later by Nikita on his IG account. Choreo for both by Adam Solya (who else?)
    • He did a 3A in the Free and is working on a 4S
    • First competition will be the Nebelhorn Trophy (19. - 21.09.) for him as well
    • He's hoping to be able to continue skating until the 2030 Winter Olympics
  • Kai Jagoda:
    • Is now also being co-coached by Michael Huth and Nicole Schott
    • SP: Rain, In Your Black Eyes by Ezio Bosso, keeping the Free from last season (And the Waltz Goes On)
    • Successfully did a 3A in the Free despite still being in the last stages of his recovery from his knee and ankle injury
    • His plan is to compete first at Diamond Spin (17. - 20.10.) and then at the Warsaw Cup Challenger (20. - 24.11.)
  • Arthur Mai is moving to Oberstdorf in September
Women:
  • Kristina Isaev missed test skates due to injury
  • Sarah Pesch showed all triples in training at test skates and will make her Challenger debut at the Nebelhorn Trophy (19. - 21.09.) and will get additional assignments later on
  • Hanna Keiß also took part in test skates
Ice Dance:
  • Janse van Rensburg/Steffan:
    • RD: Boogie Shoes by KC & The Sunshine Band, FD: Phantom of the Opera
    • They didn't show their full Free Dance due to a fall in the twizzles and a resulting small injury on Jenny's part
    • They are planning on starting their season at the Nebelhorn Trophy (19. - 21.09.) and then the NHK Trophy (08. - 10.11.), and are especially looking forward to German Nationals (16. - 21.12.)
    • Hoping to place in the top 10 at Euros and achieve an Olympic quota place at Worlds this season
  • Matthei/Liebers:
    • RD: On the radio by Donna Summer, ... FD: Circles and Experience
    • First competition is the Lombardia Trophy (13. - 15.09.) and then the NRW Trophy (13. - 17.11.)
  • Karl/Hoferichter:
    • RD: Country music, FD: Arabian style
    • They will start the season at the Lombardia Trophy (13. - 15.09.) as well

And there rarely is a better transition than this, because Karl/Hoferichter are being coached by exactly the person involved in the bad news - Stefano Caruso.

Just to give everyone some background on this man - He's an Italian former Ice Dancer who represented Germany from 2010 to 2014, placing 8th twice at Europeans and representing Germany at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
After this, he started working as an Ice Dance coach and choreographer in Germany, and has been the National coach for Junior Ice Dance (on a contractual basis) since 2019.

And now comes the bad part - He is currently in court over accusations of abuse. These accusations come from three young ice dancers, at the time between 10 and 12 years old. Especially alarming is the accusation of one of the young boys that Caruso bit his ear and rubbed another boy's ear until he writhed in pain, and that he hit, pushed and pulled his skaters without any care for potential physical injury.

Caruso himself denies these accusations and claims that his actions were misinterpreted (for example, the "pushing" was just him correcting the skaters' posture) and that this court case is an attempt to harm his image in retaliation against him after he stopped working with skaters and clubs outside of the National team.

Rostislav Sinicyn is no longer coaching Grimm / Savitskiy - He refused to work with them any longer after an ongoing conflict. 😵 Martin Skotnicky, former National coach in Ice Dance, is coaching them now.
Hopefully, their preparation for the JGP was not disrupted too much by this change and they'll still be able to show their programs well here. 🤞

(Also, more skaters are coming to train with German coaches - Swiss skater Anastasia Brandenburg is now also part of Michael Huth and Nicole Schott's training group in Oberstdorf.)

Have I been imagining things or didn´t Brandenburg work closely with Eteri the last couple of week? :scratch2:

Sad to hear about the conflict :(

She always does summer camps with Team Tutberidze, but yes, Dudakov is now officially listed as one of her coaches and Moscow as one of her training locations.
Michael Huth, however, is a new addition, she was being coached by Ekaterina Zanta in Zurich last season.

I see! I´m guessing Huth will be her main coach then!

During the summer some of Huth's students kind of teased that there might be some high profile additions to their team. Though I wouldn't call Brandenburg high profile. I wonder if there will be any more news soon.

Disappointed for G/S. Sinicyn is one of the most underrated choreographers imo, it's going to be incredibly hard to replace him.

You are right, I heard about this too but I forgot all about it.

But wasn´t it about Repond? Or was it after it became known that Repond would work with Huth?

Oh, and with the JGP starting now, ISU bios are being updated so that means both new music info (and fun new hobbies 🤣).

For JGP Riga:
Grimm / Savitskiy:
RD: Miss Broadway by Belle Epoche, Black Betty (Cover) by Caravan Palace
FD: Adagio performed by Dimash Qudaibergen
Anna Gerke:
SP: The Matrix
FS: The Phantom of the Opera
Genrikh Gartung:
SP: Amber by The Garden & The Tree
FS: It's a Man's Man's Man's World by Seal, Betty Newsome, James Brown, This Is A Man's World by David Togo, Betty Newsome, James Brown, I Got You (I Feel Good) by James Brown, Theron Thomas
Salatzki/Roeseler:
SP: Paint It Black
FS: James Bond

Disappointed for G/S. Sinicyn is one of the most underrated choreographers imo, it's going to be incredibly hard to replace him.
For now, they still have his team's choreography which might be enough to carry them through this season, but they'll be going Senior next season without Mariia and Nataljia's choreo - We'll see if they can find someone who can get close to that level.
Maybe a more recently retired former Ice Dancer who does choreo like Joti Polizoakis or Gabriella Papadakis? Don't think any of the "established choreographers" would really do it for them.
