2025-26 German Figure Skating

Germany will send two pairs, one ice dance team and one man to Euros. They could send Roscher/Schuster as well, plus one woman, but decided against it...for the women it was said it's basically to protect their mental health because they wouldn't get good results/place very high...
At least we have the chance to see two women who haven't been good enought for German Fed. Julia Sauter for Romania and Nargiz Süleymanova for Azerbaijan

It is certainly understandable after not being nominated for euros again and considering the competition. Still sad we won't be able to see him skate again. He wasn't the most stable jumper but I always enjoyed watching

I saw a comment from Tobija (Harms) on Kai's post and got curious. Apparently he announced his retirement recently aswell.

Sara & Michail debuted their 25/26 RD during the Aichi Championship couple of days ago. Interesting that they competed there, I guess they don't want to get too rusty.

Since Sara is switching to represent Germany, I guess this belongs here rather than the Japanese ID thread 🙂

New training partners for Miniki.
German women's singles champion Julia Grabowski has switched to pairs and teamed up with Lukas Gneiding. They will train in Berlin, and their season debut is still to be determined.

They have yet to announce it, so I'm posting this here somewhat cautiously.
He gave an interview about his search for a partner:

They had a tryout a few weeks ago, which he posted about on his IG story back then. I was waiting for him to come back from vacation to get some more confirmation that this partnership is happening (among other things, I was trying to see if Julia is relocating to Berlin).
She has the jumps for pairs skating (2A, 3T, 3S (and 3Lo)) and wouldn't have been sent anywhere in singles anyway (even as the National champion), so I understand why she thought about switching disciplines. Definitely a further testament to whatever is happening in women's skating in Germany, though.😬 Anna and Diana won't turn Senior-eligible for 2 and 3 more seasons respectively, and with the trajectory of other promising Junior women in the past (including Julia herself), I am a little worried about them.

Didn't she have the mins for Euros and still wasn't sent?
Yes, as did Anna Grekul and Sarah Pesch. The German fed said something about it being too damaging to their mental health to send one of them when they had no chance of being competitive at the event. I personally think that the experience could have been valuable if the skater was realistic about what they would be able to achieve there.

It still makes me laugh that the German fed wants to send a whole team to the next Olympics. If they don't give their skaters the chance to gain experience at bigger events, how would they manage being at the Olympics?
