For once I think the Special Group selection is fair.

My heart breaks for Sota, though, yes he didn't do great at Nationals but he won a challenger and didn't do badly in the GP series... Hope he gets moved to Special Group A once the GP assignments are out

Like with the women, the Sainichi Holdings Cup, a Free Skate only competition, finished today and offered us a few insights into next season.

Tsudoi Suto has a new Free Skate to "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". It looked like he was going for a 4S, but popped it into a triple (& did 8 jumping passes for some reason, I think he got confused 😅). He managed to deliver two 3As despite all that.

Taiga Nishino has a new Free Skate to "Moonlight Sonata". After popping the first 4S into a double, he landed a clean 4S+2T. He had less luck with the 3A this time, falling on both attempts.

Daiya Ebihara won the Junior Men's Free Skate. He fell on an (underrotated) 4T, but landed an (also underrotated) 3A. The placement of the 3S between the 4T and 3A makes me think he might also be working (or planning on working) on a 4S.
