Welp it's 5:36 am, I have heartburn and too many conspiracy theories, figure skating still continues to be pain, rage, and suffering, I have no idea how I'm going to be sane enough for day 2. Did I mention that our apartment building's elevator is being renovated, making it unusable, and I live on the 14th floor? The pogo stick from Nazareth, I am having so much fun whee-

Figure skating is holding my darling as hostage and blackmailing me to give up my sanity, and because my darling is my darling I will have to tune in for day 2. If I don't die from asphyxiation I am going to die from a stress hemorrhage

Most biased judging I have seen in a long time... Also the GOE she recieved compared to others...
The GOE is because of the lack of technical calls. They couldn't give others high GOE because of all the UR and edge calls given by the technical panel.

But, really, what weird technical calling. The calling was fair enough, if harsh, for all the other skaters. We see this during challengers sometimes, very accurate technical calling which leads to surprises. But, was the panel sleeping during her skate because she definitely deserved at the very least a < on the combo.

I only watched a couple of these, thanks @labgoat for gathering them.

I don't mind ELG, she has a very pretty style... I'm not entirely sure the back end of the combo got completely around, but then again, I'm not sure that it didn't. Everything else looked fine. Whatever her reputation may be for UR, she didn't do it here. Even the combo was at most a q.

My main complaint was that it was just pretty. Not special. But in this competition, that was enough.

calls will induce lower goe but a judge who sees a jump short of rotation can act responsibly on their own and not give +3 or +4, without a tech call.

Good work by the officials they showed some consistency, but let themselves down with Gracey. Her lutz was borderline q (they would have given it a q if she was one of those skaters from one of those countries if you understand me ;)), the 3T was a definitie q. They also missed the clear flat edge on the flip.

Maybe the officials wanted to bank a good score early on if you understand me ;). In case the other one falters. Good thinking

I'm a little shocked they dinged Isabeau, it was impossible to ignore the downgrade on the flip, but gave her an edge call on the lutz and q for the 3T. It was all there, but can't believe they gave it to her. I'm quite concerned for her jumping now. She got away with it in the world championships last season there were 4 or 5 times they could have dinged her for something similar as the opening combo, but ignored it. If they assess her as they did in this program, it's going to be a tough season.

She almost needs to relearn how to jump at this point in order to have a long career like Amber.

It's looking now as though Isabeau will be likely 4th best going into the Olympics. Even if Amber can get three places for USA, she will still probably miss out.

Also, well done to Livia and good luck!

Sure, but I wouldn't say the UR was obvious enough for all the judges to catch it in realtime. Her jumps have nice height and flow. Easy enough for a judge to miss the UR in realtime but I don't think the technical panel should have missed it given how harsh their calling was for others.

One judge did give a 0, another gave a one, no judge gave higher than a 3. I really think bigger issue was tech calling not GOE.

I have maintained for a long time that Isabeau's jumping style would eventually be her downfall. Her legs just don't seem under control. I kept thinking it was due to a growth spurt or something but now I'm thinking that's the way she was taught. Too bad.
